Sure it's not a high priority item, but still I'd like to see this and perhaps
adjustable in-camera RAW->JPEG post processing in the alpha 700, too.
I'm wondering a bit about noise characteristics. The pixel density (pitch)
should be a bit lower in the alpha 900 as they scale resolution by 1.9... where
the geometric (areal) difference is 2.25 (or, linearly, 1.4 pixel increase on
1.5 length growth), so unless the on-sensor pixel borders are wider, it should
have better noise characteristics even in crop mode, let alone proper
downsampling on the PC.

At least "blast away" wasn't an issue when I tried the alpha 900 at the
Photokina fair in Köln (Cologne/Germany) last year. I don't own one myself
either (nor the 850).

Ah well. Live View is really useful with a tilt/swivel display on some occasions
(over the head or close to the ground) - but such displays have their own
constraints WRT viewfinder/ocular and overall camera geometry.
