Graham,
For the same $50 or so, you can probably find a Canon EOS 10 or 10s on Ebay.
This is IR capable. Sure, its a film camera but its about 3rd generation AF with
3 selectable AF points, a rather quiet shutter, and you can use a wireless
release with it. If you can develop BW film, you can do IR film at home too.
The Melbourne guys are going to charge $50 for exploratory surgery, then even
more for the actual conversion, and you'll have a cobbled together camera that
may not be good for much else.

setting in a menu on my KM-5D to use a manual focus mirror lens in aperture
priority mode but can't for the life of me recall what it was, can anyone help
me with what I need to do with the A900 to use the same lens? I can't find
anything in the instructions other than to use manual setting for a telescope.

there is a company in my home town (Melbourne, Australia) who do digital IR
conversions but they have never done a KM-*D and want to charge $50 to see if it
can be done. So rather than risk losing $50, has anyone here had a KM-5D or
KM-7D successfully converted to IR?
