Hello,
I have a perfectly working 50mm Minolta AF lens. This is the f/1.7
version with 49mm lens thread. It comes with a 49mm UV filter (Star-D
Skylight, made in Japan) and the rear lens cap. The front lens cap is
missing.
Pictures are available upon request. Send me a message off the list
if interested.
Price is $90.
Shipping is $15 within North America.
I have been a member of this group for a couple of years and have
already sold a couple of Minolta items here including Minolta Maxxum 9
and 7 (I still miss them). I also have hundreds of positive feedback
on Ebay.
Hi,
I just bought one on ebay for $5.00....it cost more to ship it. :-)
Good luck getting $90.

You bought one for $5? Is that what you really paid? Do you want to
tell us how you could buy it for that price? Was is a 'buy it now'?
They normally sell for $90-$100 on ebay. I can imagine a someone who
has no idea about the price of this lens puts up an auction with 'buy
it now' for $% and the lucky person is the one who first sees this
auction to jump over it. Otherwise, they really go up to the price
range mentioned above.

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry for the false information. The lens I bought was a MF version,
ebay item number
160238612410. I read the post and was thinking MF prices.
. I have seen 50mm f1.7 AF versions sell for under $60 many times and in this
case with a camera for $45, item # 190220825859. Or alone for $60 , #
270235058075 or for $57, item number 200221615417. Here is one with a Maxxum
7000 for $74: 310046618699
It's often cheaper to buy one with a camera body.
If anyone here is offended...sorry....but whenever I offer anything for sale
to friends (which I assume we all are here) I offer it at a lower, reasonable
price. When I'm looking for more money...I go ahead and list it on ebay. I think
it's a more courteous way of selling in a yahoo group. So when people post
things for sale in yahoo groups that I can find for less money...I'm offended.

Some of those are a bit nasty looking and/or include the 'I am not
an expert so I don't know if this works' kind of disclaimer, hence
the low-ball pricing.
> It's often cheaper to buy one with a camera body.
Yes, if you happen to also want a camera body. Otherwise you just end
up with something else that you then have to try to sell. We've all
been there, I'm sure.

We've had this discussion in the past as well. This group has 5500+
members. Rest assured that there are plenty of lurkers out there who
monitor this and other groups for the sole purpose of grabbing up
bargain offers intended for friends. That helps nobody other than the
lurkers.
IMHO, these are good guidelines:
If you have something to offer at a bargain price, do it privately.
If you have something to offer publicly here, do it at approximately
market (eBay) price.
If you see a public offer here that you don't like... ignore it.
Are you positive you didn't get a Rokkor or plain MD? As many have
already said, $90 is definitely in the market range.
Here's a list of recent final prices on ebay: 119.99, 100.99, 135
(BIN), 76, 144.10, 105.50, 89, 90, 107.50, 89.95.
You got a great deal if it is a working AF model.

Rhoel,
Your correct, I made a mistake. But if you read my last post I listed
several completed ebay auctions where the AF lens went for much cheaper than
$90.
For those who feel it's a "steel" I suggest you buy it, however, if your
search hard enough they can be found for less.
best regards,
Rick

As other also mentioned, $90 is the lower end of average price for
which this lens sells. For anything lower, you need to keep watching
to hopefully get a bargain price. In this calculation, if you take
into account the amount of time you need to spend to get that super
cheap deal, you may realize the final deal wasn't that great. What's
the point of spending a couple of hours looking around and finally
getting this lens for $50 (for example)?
All in one, I did gather some some sold prices from around before
setting up the post.

I find your post unpleasant. The way you put it seams like Ramin is selling his
50mm for 18 times it's price. If you are interested on the lens, you could
argued that the no-brand UV filter is worthless, or about the missing front cap.
But there is NO WAY you can buy nowadays a 50mm f1.7 AF Minolta for 5 US$ unless
it was a "for parts only" or the seller was a bad (ignorant) ebuyer. I got mine
for 30 US$ more than 3 and a half years ago, before the 7D came out, when nobody
gave a dam for Konica Minolta, and because I got it at the Adorama Used
Department, they had 4 on stock and I work there!
Ramin has been a member of this list for a while and deserve more respect.

Thanks Palo for the message. Right now there are two of these lenses
on EBay for sale. They will end within an hour. However bids on these
lenses are already up to $112.50. So $90 is still a bargain price.

I agree on all counts. Ramin is a longer-term member who has a very good grasp
of lens values and trading prices. I can't believe
you actually got a properly working AF 50mm f1.7 lens for $5 unless shipping
cost was over $60. Even if your buy is an
apples-to-apples comparison, it is so very rare and unlikely that your comment
is truly inconsiderate of Ramin't fair price for gear
in prime condition in today's market.

I recently sold my 50/1.7 at $125. I've been keeping track of Min/Kon-Min
items on ebay for a while (looking to pick up bargains, of course), and
while there were some outliers in the data for the 50/1.7, the average price
over the last 10 that I've kept track of, was $105.

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry for the false information. The lens I bought was a MF version,
ebay item number
160238612410. I read the post and was thinking MF prices.
. I have seen 50mm f1.7 AF versions sell for under $60 many times and in
this case with a camera for $45, item # 190220825859. Or alone for $60 , #
270235058075 or for $57, item number 200221615417. Here is one with a Maxxum
7000 for $74: 310046618699
It's often cheaper to buy one with a camera body.
If anyone here is offended...sorry....but whenever I offer anything for
sale to friends (which I assume we all are here) I offer it at a lower,
reasonable price. When I'm looking for more money...I go ahead and list it
on ebay. I think it's a more courteous way of selling in a yahoo group. So
when people post things for sale in yahoo groups that I can find for less
money...I'm offended.
TTFN
Rick :-)
