Here's a picture of mine, you'll see the stock temp sensor that's supposed
to be there.

You will see on mine where the stock 2 wire temp sensor is.
http://marc.merlins.org/tmp/p1090351.jpg

Greg, between you and me, a fully working RC-80 on Ebay is $50.
The fact that you got one without a temp sensor somehow is not right. The
amount of time and effort that may be required to make yours work may not be
worth it.

If it were me, I would return it to the Ebay seller for a refund: a unit
without a temp sensor is a useless unit.

I just took a look at my RC80, and the 3 pads are empty where you
have the wires. The temperature sensor is above the slot in the
pcb just to the left of the pads where your wires are. I don't
recognize the sensor at all, so have no suggestions on a source.
As I mentioned in my other note your best bet might be HAI. If you
can get a part number from them we ought to be able to find a source,
or else maybe you can buy the sensor directly from HAI.

Yes, it's an old message :)

Now that we have that out of the way, I've been trying to integrate the
omnistat widgets in mh before I commit the code.
Since I got no suggestions when I last asked, I tried some more.

So, I have
http://myserver/my_mh/
working

But I can't see which frame my_mh is supposed to appear in. Clicking on the
buttons does nothing, likely because I'm not in an iframe.
So, where is stuff in my_mh supposed to show up in misterhouse?

That's what I was missing all along. I just added that and I'll add it to
the insteon docs too, thanks.

The good news for insteon users in the future (once the new code base
comes on line) is that you won't have to worry about enabling the
insteon item commands as it will just automagically happen. But, not so
for all other modules. Again, this is insteon-specific; everything else
remains the same (enable as you need it).

my guess is that you didn't enable code/common/x10_item_commands.pl.
Remember that such things are protocol specific and not interface
specific. Just because you enable an entirely different protocol (e.g.,
insteon) doesn't mean that you'll magically get a new one (e.g., x10).

If I enable the above, I get the applicable voice commands for my one
lonely x10 module still controlled by my plm.

That was for the original poster, but I'm sure he'll appreciate the help.

It also confirmed that Insteon does not create voice commands for X10 items.

Marc,

Try MisterHouseHome->BrowseMisterhouse->List Voice Commands.

Misterhouse will respond in the bottom of the browser with the list of
possible voice commands.

Look for insteon::outsidedeck, or similiar.
You want whatever fills in outsidedeck

I just tried a similiar thing here and it works for me.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply.

I tried what you suggested, but it did not work. I basically want to
verify that I can get Linux to interact with the modem. I can get
windows on the same box to work. But even plmtools hangs when I try to
send a command.

Is there something special I should do to the serial over USB modem?
setserial ...?

Thanks,
Dan

But basically I've found voice commands (what you call with mhsend), weird
and not very easy to figure out.

Hello,

I am new to misterhouse so I am sure I have missed something.

When I try to send a command via mhsend to my x10 device I get an error:

Thanks Gregg, I'll pull the dirt back in this rabbithole for now and wait for an

I definitely agree with your suggestion as well. Further, existing xPL
libraries and utility applications can ease the development time.

I probably have created the last xAP app/gateway as managing UIDs (which
essentially duplicate the address namespace) is a major hassle. xPL is
much easier in many respects. The more modern xPL schemas like lighting
and security especially help.

This is a fairly old thread but another possibility would be to write an xPL
gateway for this device. I added support for the xPL security schema to mh so
there are objects for the security system (panel), areas (group of zones) and
zone. The benefit is that the hardware is useful to anyone who uses xPL
including mh users.

Thanks,

Hi Sean

This project looks really good. There are a lots of people with 15p and 20p
that would love the idea
to have it talk to Misterhouse.

Do you have a beta module that I can test.

Unfortunately, what this implies is that the PID that is defined by zm
Perl libs (not mine) does not exist. I encountered this myself and
realized that there were some permissions issues that I had to resolve.
In my case, the perl libs defined the location of the PID as
/var/run/zm/zm.pid.

So, it's a zm issue vice a zmxap issue.

ZM and MH are running on same Ubuntu 9.10 machine. MH is providing the hub at
present(one step at a time). Startup procedure is manual with MH starting first
to obtain hub port, ZM service starts next and then the execution of zmxap.pl.
xFx Message Viewer is on XP machine(eolmachine) on same network. Below is what
it sees:

although it has never acknowledged ZM is running. I know that it is.

xAP_send.pl is not relevant here regardless of what you're trying to do

It would probably help to know where what is running. You have at least
one *nix box running zm. Does mh also run on it? I'm assuming your
reference to message viewer means that you have a pc running it? Where
are your hub(s) running (it appears that you're allowing mh to implement
one of them)?

So, let's ignore mh for the moment as that isn't (yet) relevant. Do you
see xAP messages coming from zmxap?

Still struggling with xAP output. dir_code_common points to xAP_send.pl and it

Ok. If I have elaborations/comments beyond what you entered, I'll try
to attribute them as mine. That way we don't start wondering who's
writing what.

My very first reaction at seeing that list was--wow!--that's a bunch
more stuff than is already on my list. But, after thinking more, pretty
much all of the fix bucket items do belong there as getting to them will
validate the design.

Thanks for adding your stuff so quickly. I'll work on adding mine in as
well (so that I can at least claim some form of progress). I'm finding
that some of the latest revisions to implement serialized queuing is
making a big difference to reliability and an absence of forced retries.

Right. I was written quickly :)
I put [mm] next to all my lines and feel free to modify/correct them as

My original idea is that you'd take requested lines and move them in the
right bucket. Feel free to modify/move the lines I put in the Fix bucket
directly :)

Well if you are comfortable I can have a look. It will certainly take
some time to get familiar with the code so the earlier I can look the
better but I will of course defer to your comfort level:-)

Thanks, Marc!

I'm wondering what is the best way to comment on things that are added?
I can delimit mine w/ my initials or first name. But, if there's a
better convention, then I'm up for suggestions. I'm mostly thinking
about best ways to request clarification of certain items. As a
specific example, "... should properly handle ..." is ambiguous. No
doubt, I'll add my own ambiguous stuff as well.
