Dear Wayne:
My name is Dan Evans; and I have met you several times at EAAA meetings in
Pensacola. I have been associated for a long time with the astronomy club
in Panama City, Florida (we usually have about 8-10 members at a club
meeting). Your club president suggested that I send you an email, since I
am selling a NEW 6" ETX-LS telescope from Meade that I just bought a few
weeks ago-and used a few times. I find it awkward and cumbersome to carry
it by myself (the non-detachable optical tube and mount weigh 35-40
pounds)-it's better to have 2 people set it up. It is in new condition,
with no scratches or damage of any kind. Here's a list of what is included:
1. 6" ETX-LS ACF scope (purchased for $1,299; now costs $1,499)
2. All packing crates for the scope
3. Instruction manual for the scope
4. Red dot finder
5. ECLIPSE ccd camera (for 8 degree astrophotos)
6. 1 1/4" star diagonal
7. visual back/holder for star diagonal
8. Meade 26mm Super Plossl series 4000 eyepiece
9. Meade 40mm Super Plossl series 4000 eyepiece
10. Meade 12.5 mm Super Plossl series 4000 eyepiece
11. (Non-heated) dew sheild for a 6" SCT
12. 3 year Sky Assurance Warranty (bought for $87, costs $145)
13. 7 Hour Power Tank rechargeable battery
14. Adapter cord for rechargeable battery
15. Meade Auto Star Suite (version 5.5) for your PC
16. USA-USB cord to attach your PC to the telescope
17. SD card (to record astrophotos & put on your PC later)
18. 8 NEW C-cell batteries (they will last 3-5 hours in this telescope)
19. JMI hard carrying case for the ETX-LS (NEW, will ship to me in 7-14
days)
I paid $1299 for the telescope; $410 for the other accessories; and I will
pay about $200 for the hard carrying case when JMI is ready to ship it to
me. So I would have paid over $1,900.00. I am asking $1,500 for the
telescope and all the accessories; the cost of the hard case may be less
than $200; I will let you know; but I am selling the scope and accessories
with the hard carrying case so that you will have some way of transporting
the telescope. If you bought all this NOW, the cost would be about
$2,180-so you are saving about $400 vs buying it new. I WILL bring the
scope to you (at no charge) within 100 miles of Panama City, FL (Pensacola
to Tallahassee); and may also be willing to drive to Mobile, AL. Please
