Broken Britain : Crime , Terror and Extremism can only be beaten if we ALL work together - even if this means sacrificing short term political/commerical gain
Sir,
It is sometimes all to easy to get disheartened about the fate of our country. Today, a gang of youths were jailed for life over the senseless murder of a young teenager. We have just passed the fourth anniversary of the 7th July terrorist outrage, and the recent European elections saw the far-right British National Party gain ground.
But “Broken Britain” is by no means beyond repair. There is no reason why a modern, cosmopolitan nation such as the UK can’t be strong, united and safe. What is needed is a coherent approach between politicians, the media and the community they serve to defeat crime, terror and extremism in all forms.
Heads need to be banged together to put a love of Britain above short term gains– such as those few extra votes, and those few extra newspaper sales. Beyond the hype, there is the basic issue of right and wrong, which the vast majority agree on regardless of culture and faith. I invite everyone to work together to achieve this- we did during World War 2 and we can today.
