Normally, this package is not offered as software since it is bundled with a number of hardware guitar accessories. And never as freeware. However, Computer Music Magazine has included the complete Guitar Rig 3 LE with issue #141.  Guitar Rig 3 has 3 different amps, 12 different cabinets and 12 effects that can be combined.

This issue is not on the newstand yet (at least locally), but when it arrives I would highly recommend this if you plan to do any guitar recording. It requires a keycode supplied with the magazine to make your version unlimited. Here's the link ... Guitar Rig 3


This software version, although not nearly the top of the line for NI effects boxes, has an almost infinite combination of virtual equipment that resides in a sliding rack so you can mix match amps, cabinets and effects and lots more helpful virtual equipment pieces to tune your guitar to just the right sound. (Yes it comes with a guitar tuner as well.). If you don't have a guitar, that's OK too. Just route a virtual guitar sound into this rack.
