I had an interview with a company today which I wish I'd never had.
Most of the times when we focus on bad interviews, we think of the
candidate as the one making any mistakes.
BUT, have you ever given considerations to bad interviews being bad
interviews because the COMPANY is the one making the mistakes?
I was being considered for an HR-type position which the person who
was interviewing me for some reason just started telling me about a
litany of problems the COMPANY was having - which had NOTHING to do
with the job for which I was being considered.
Now, while ALL companies hire us to help them solve problems, I don't
think telling candidates about company problems that have nothing to
do with the position we're interviewing for is a good strategy.
Just as candidates shouldn't discuss former companies they've worked
for in a negative light, hiring companies shouldn't discuss themselves
in a negative light, either...
By the way: The company also asked me what my political persuasion was
and my views on gun control...
Sheez!
Needless to say, it certainly dampened my interest in the company...
Thanks, and Keep STRONG!!
