Ultimately, networking is networking - online or off...

However, there are palpably different APPROACHES to networking which
are worthy of our attention.

Though each have their benefits, for me, personally, I interact just a
bit differently on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and Yahoo Groups...

Can you imagine doing business development or finding a job by sharing
some of your favorite music or by sharing a TED talk?  (Of course, you
do have to consider the downside of posting highly inappropriate
things, too...)

Sharing different aspects of yourself helps you to have different sets
of networking opportunities which strictly professional business sites
may not afford you...

Though I've had an account on Facebook for a couple of years, I've
been very pleased with the variety of people I've been meeting there
over the past few months.  (Interestingly, Facebook has increased its
value from $6.5 to $9.5 Billion Dollars USD over just the past 4
months!)

What I like most about Facebook, is that it is much more communicative
than most other social media platforms, giving its members more ways
to interact and to determine whether or not they can or should work
professionally with one another.

8-10 years of SAP Security Experience. Individual must have worked in an ITAR / FDA regulatory environment. Position Responsibilities – Summary

The individual will be leading the system design and analysis for
development projects in the End-Of-day Pricing Application in the Investment
Data Systems team. In this role the individual will work with the project
managers, business analysts and lead programmers to define technical
solutions and roadmap for implementing business requirements in our
applications with a strong focus on scalability, quality and application
integration with the downstream consumers of pricing data. This person will
also be performing supervisory activities including budget management within
the team.

Key Responsibilities;

·         Partner with Investment Data and Derivatives Services Business

firms growing needs around pricing and analytics in order to develop long
term scalable solutions.
·         Take a hands-on approach to functional architecture and technical
design to deliver business solutions.
·         Work with the Pricing Data consumer groups to understand their
requirements and help develop innovative solutions to address their data

·         Provide input into system design to help the programming teams
define effort and implementation schedules for application development work.
·         Ensure quality of product by enforcing high standards in testing
and building controls to measure the overall accuracy and timeliness of data
delivery.
·         Develop a strong partnership with the delivery team to ensure on
time, scalable and high quality business solutions.
·         Manage the overall budget of the team and help in planning and
budget estimations of various efforts.
·         Provide team leadership on assigned projects that may include both
full time and consulting staff in a matrix organization.
Keys to This Position:
1.  This is a Senior role that is a combination of Functional and Technical
with emphasis on the Functional.
2.  The Domain (Functional) requirement:  This candidate must have a strong
background in Investment Management with exposure to Back Office and Middle
Office Operations.  This individual will be responsible for Reference Data
Applications that includes Pricing, Security Master, Analytics and
Derivative Operations.  Any experience in these areas is a very strong plus.
3.  Technical:  The applications are written in Java (J2EE), PL/SQL and Data

The Enterprise Information Architect will play a key technical leadership
role in defining direction as well as implementing major transformational
data-related projects planned over the next 3-5 years.  She/he will be
responsible for leading and engaging in information/data management projects
including the Enterprise Information Architecture, information models and
flows, data dictionaries, data standards, and data quality standards and
processes.  The Enterprise Information Architect is responsible for
developing and maintaining the logical Enterprise Information Architecture

Keys to This Position:

1.  Domain knowledge:  The candidate must have a strong knowledge of the
Asset Management industry and how the business operates.  Ideally the
candidate will come from another asset management firm or a vendor like a
Charles River or similar type vendor firm.
2.  Technical skills:  The candidate will have a focus at a Lead level in
the areas of Information/Data Architecture and Integration, Data Modeling,
Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, etc.
3.  Must have strong Client Relationship and Leadership skills.  This
individual will interface with the Investment Systems team and the
Investment Data team among others.  Experience understanding Fixed Income,
Equities and Derivatives is important.
4.  This individual will be very similar to a Lead Systems Analyst, but in
the Data Architecture space.  The individual needs a deep knowledge of the
Asset Management business (i.e. Fixed Income, Equities, etc.) and the
underlying business process and the Data that facilitates the Workflow.

Required Skills and Competencies:

·         Master's degree in software or systems engineering, computer
science, information systems management or the equivalent.
·         At least 10 years progressive experience in enterprise
information/data related disciplines, i.e., data modeling, architecture and
integration.
·         Proven experience in developing information architectures aligned
with information lifecycle management within financial services.
·         Proven experience performing conceptual, logical and physical data
modeling with data modeling tools (Erwin/ModelMart) and database design in
complex, large-scale data environments.
·         Proven experience in transactional data modeling (3NF),
dimensional modeling and object oriented modeling.  Proven experience in
developing scalable design of entities using advanced data structures (e.g.,
tall tables) is a plus.
·         Knowledge of application modeling languages/techniques (e.g., UML,

·         Proven experience creating enterprise models incorporating master
and reference data.

While this is more than possible to do, it is important to remember that not all jobs and career fields are the same. For example, just because you may make a great legal security, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are qualified to work as a nurse or another healthcare professional. That is just one of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, before changing career fields. A few of the other factors that you will want to take into consideration are outlined below.

As previously stated, not all jobs and career fields are the same. That is why it is important that you do not make any assumptions. Assuming is the worst mistake that you could ever make, especially with something as important as your career. Before officially deciding to change careers, you will want to take the time to thoroughly research each career field that you may be interested in entering. These career fields may include medical, automotive, legal, retail, and so forth. This research can easily be done online or at your local library. Important points that you will want to examine include current and forecasted job outlook, as well as pay.

Once you have at least one or two career fields that you would be interested in entering, you may want to start searching for open job positions. The only thing is that you may want to refrain from applying for any of those jobs just yet. Instead, you will want to examine a number of different factors. One of those factors is pay. For the positions that you would be interested in apply for is the pay enough to support your family? While some circumstances may allow you to take a pay cut, you may want to refrain from doing so if possible.
