Re: Dimensions new version release

We have the new release in-house. I am pleased with the upgrades that
were made to performance. We have large datasets that suffer terribly
in the 3.0 version. The refresh on the main tabulation page of long
variable lists is faster - not blzing fast, but they made some good
progress. The tabulation of complex cross-tabs seems to be faster and
the tabulation of multiple cross-tabs is definitely faster. They have
made many other updates that are also quite welcome. Most of our
concerns centered around mrTables not behaving in the same manner that
Quanvert does for some things. Since it is supposed to replace
Quanvert, the users expect the same functionality.

On the Administration side, they have made some welcome enhancements
as far as loading and checking in large datasets. There are some good
UI enhancements as well as many, many things that are not readily
apparent - read the list of bug fixes.

SPSS is making progress. I would expect that when they are able to
leverage some of the upgrades that will be available via the .Net
Framework v 2.0 we will see some more performance increases in the UI.

I should have been more specific. It's a full dot release (3.1, I think). It is supposed to address a number of concerns, chiefly some performance issues...
