Dr. Nanying Yin, VP of Technology, Airvana Inc.,
Dr. Nanying Yin is VP of Technology at Airvana Inc., a wireless communication equipment provider, where he is responsible for new product initiatives and development. Before joining Airvana, Dr. Yin was a Founder and Executive Vice President at PhotonEx Corporation, a 40 Gigabit optical networking equipment provider. From 1997-1999, Dr. Yin was Director of Internet Core Router Group, Nortel Networks. From 1995 to 1997, Dr. Yin served as Director of Networking Technology of Bay Architecture Lab, Bay Networks, Inc., a data networking equipment provider. Prior to Bay Networks, he held engineering positions at Wellfleet Communications and Motorola Inc. Dr. Yin holds 20 U.S. patents and received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University , New York .
Career Development at High Tech Firms
Dr. Wei Gao, Founder and President, Axcel Photonics,
Dr. Wei Gao has been working on optoelectronics for over 20 years. In 2000, he started his venture-backed company, Axcel Photonics, to make high performance semiconductor lasers. As Founder, CTO, President, and CEO, he built up the company from inception with extreme capital efficiency, developed superior technology and products, managed investors’ expectations properly and developed great rapport from board members and investors. In 2005, the company was sold to private investors and he stayed on as President to run the company. Other working experience include: a former faculty member at Beijing University in Physics Department; a founding employee at Multiplex, a high tech startup in New Jersey ; and held sales/marketing role at Nortel Networks in Optoelectronics Division. Mr.Gao has a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE; a M.S. in Applied Physics from the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Northern Jiaotong University, Beijing.

Dr. Nick Ning, President 2008-2009, NECINA
Nick Ning has been a tech lead since 2007 at ITA whose search engine powers Orbitz. During 2004 to 2006, Nick helped the engineering efforts for Sursen China and Biscom USA . As VP Engineering at Sursen, he streamlined the growing engineering team processes, and led the initial development of UOML format which is under adoption process by OASIS consortium. At Biscom, he scaled up the video management system for high-end market and connected Sursen and Biscom for business collaboration. In 2001, he was a lead developer at a marketing automation startup MarketSoft till 2003. From 1997 to 2000, he helped EMC to develop EMC Control Center from conception to full product. Nick started his professional career building performance expert system at DEC and was a key engineer of Sybase Central and database replication software at Sybase since 1995. Nick received BS from Nankai University , MS in CS and PhD in Math from University of Cincinnati .
