55 NECINA officers and members attended this workshop and had a great discussion on career development led by Dr. Nanying Yin and Dr. Wei Gao. Detailed 2008-2009 operation plans were presented by NECINA president Nick Ning and officers from each function centers. More than 14 new officers joined NECINA and found functional teams which matched their interests. Officers from NACSA Boston chapter attended the workshop.

Short Talk with NECINA Officer Team

What are the benefits to your career by volunteering at NECINA? What are the career advices you would give to a Chinese engineer? What are the career advices you would give to a Chinese manager? What are the lessons and failures you learned as a manager? NECINA Board member, Dr. Nanying Yin shared his answers based on his 18 years experience in engineering, engineering management and entrepreneurship. The key words are “speak out”, “own product”, ”passion”,” disruptive changes”, “Don’t miss opportunities”, “Managing up”, “TEAM”. At NECINA, you will meet people who share the same internal drive and passion in career growth and entrepreneurship. It is a platform for each officer to practice all these Key Words described.

Career Development in High Tech Firms

Managing your career and managing your startup are both fantastic journey that require absolute dedication, hard work, happiness and sales skill. Dr. Gao shared insights combined his successful experience as both engineer and founder of Axel Photonics. Are you involved at your work? Are you prepared for the next opportunity coming to you?  He also offered practical advice and interesting reading list on how to identify the problem as business opportunity and how to improve sales skills. The ultimate question was brought up on “What make you happy?” Ru Zheng, NECINA GM, certified Dale Carnegie Trainer will continue this topic by leading us through a Dale Carnegie training session in our next workshop scheduled on 06/07/2008.

NECINA 2008-2009 Operation Plan

NECINA president, Dr. Nick Ning and officers from all functional centers presented our mission, team structure, milestones and timeline for 2008-2009 fiscal year. Networking session was held at the end to continue recruiting and planning. NECINA spent tremendous effort in Sichuan Earthquake relief and the Boston Walk for Sichuan Earthquake Relief was organized on 05/31/2008. Your participation will be highly appreciated.
