Please join us to walk three miles inside Boston Commons this Saturday for the Sichuan Earthquake Relief Fund. Your efforts will help the families affected by the 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Sichuan, China. As of today, more than 60,000 lives lost in this disaster, and more than 20,000 people remain missing. Thousands of children are left without families. Many among the 300,000 people injured still await medical attention. This earthquake destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes, making more than 5 million people homeless. They need your help to rebuild their lives. Please bring your families and friends to join us this Saturday, and extend your helping hands to the victims.

All walk participants will receive a Walk for Sichuan Earthquake Relief T-shirt for on-site registrations at first come first serve base. NECINA will also give out a one year FREE membership for donation of $50 or more.
Help raise awareness among your American friends, colleagues and co-workers about the extensive damages caused by this deadly earthquake, and gather support to help sponsor your walk by using the pledge form. Together we can do more to save lives and to rebuild homes and schools.
This event is jointly organized by various local Chinese associations including New England Chinese Information and Networking Association (NECINA). NECINA will forward 100% of the donations collected to Overseas China Education Foundation (OCEF) to support their earthquake relief efforts. We are trying to make this event as successful as possible. Among the things we have accomplished and tried to achieve:
- Two reporters of CCTV are joining us from D.C., who will report this significant event.
- A big donation was requested but could not be reached due to timing. This company has donated one million already. We would still hope for big donations or company matching in Boston area.
In order to have a peaceful and successful event, and to show our pride as Chinese (or Chinese friends) to the community, please follow the rules below:
- This is a non-political and non-religious charity event. We deeply feel sorry for those victims and want to help them effectively. That is our primary and only goal. No flags are allowed and let's keep it as quiet as possible.
- Banners and signs from participating organizations are allowed only for display, and need to be hung on the fence surrounding the tennis court in Boston Common.
- Bring your own umbrella, raincoat or cap since there is a T-storm at the Saturday weather forecast.
- No cooking, no selling food. Water will be provided but no lunch or other food.
- No sticks on the ground.
- One policeman and two park rangers will be on-site with us.
- Please enter from the visitor information center on Tremont Street to unload and load your musical equipments, and miscellaneous set-ups around the performance stage.
- Two portable toilets are available at the corner of the tennis court.
- Please keep the park as clean as possible. Trash bags are available at specific locations.
