China is emerging as a major outsourcing market for product engineering and IT Services, and the country has shown tremendous promise in the outsourcing space. Outsourcing buyers are looking at China as their next stop after India, not only to access the Chinese labor pool, but also to better position their organizations for selling into the China market. 

The success of the India outsourcing industry has been aided by strong organizations such as TiE and NASSCOM.   How do we ensure that China organizations like THAA, NECINA, SAPA-NE are successful in promoting the growth of the China outsourcing industry and in creating opportunities for Chinese professionals?
This workshop offers an overview of the Chinese outsourcing industry followed by a case study on how we can collectively “Make China Easy” for companies and professionals looking to China as a source of technology talent and revenue.  As Chinese professionals, what critical role can you play in this field?  How can you network to define your career path and achieve your personal goals?  Come to meet our speakers & sponsors for China career opportunities.

About the speakers and panelists:
Ian Hayes, President of Clarity Consulting.  With over 30 years of experience spanning a full range of IT issues and trends, Ian has followed the offshore outsourcing market since its inception and he brings deep experience in outsourcing market analysis.  He will provide an analyst’s perspective on the factors fueling the rise of outsourcing to China, the current state of the market, its likely growth path, and the challenges that must overcome for the China outsourcing market to reach its potential.  Outsourcing in China is still in an early stage, but its future looks bright, so he will also explore the many career and business opportunities it offers.

Brian Keane is the chief executive officer for Dextrys, a leading US-based Chinese outsourcing firm offering product engineering and application services to the high tech, financial services and healthcare industries, an IT industry veteran, Brian has proven expertise building high-value business and IT services companies. As part of Francisco Partners’ acquisition of Dextrys, Brian was brought in to build Dextrys into the leading global IT services firm leveraging China offshore resources.

Previously, Brian was the president and CEO of Keane, Inc., a $1 billion business and IT outsourcing firm. Under Brian’s leadership, Keane transformed from its roots as an IT programming services firm into an industry-leading provider of high-value outsourcing services. Brian pioneered industry practices in the areas of managing, measuring and delivering outsourcing services.

Brian also launched Keane’s global delivery model by establishing nearshore facilities in Canada and offshore facilities in India. Brian led the company into the business process outsourcing market to capitalize on the synergies available by combining business processes, IT services and global delivery. Brian began his career at Mitsui and Company, a Japanese trading company. Brian holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Harvard College.

Mark Botticelli - VP of Engineering for Trimble Mobile Solutions.  Mark has been outsourcing mobile product engineering to China for more than 4 years.  Trimble integrates a wide range of positioning technologies including GPS, laser, optical and inertial technologies with application software, wireless communications, and services to provide complete commercial solutions. Its integrated solutions allow customers to collect, manage and analyze complex information faster and easier, making them more productive, efficient and profitable.

Java Engineer

Education:
BS/CS or equivalent experience; 8+ years of application development experience

Generic Skills
1. Excellent collaboration and communication skills at all levels including peers, cross functional teams and customers.
2. Strong organizational and analytic skills required for performing complex programming, design and testing of applications related to development, maintenance, and/or production support of mission critical systems.
3. Extensive knowledge of assigned applications, systems, utilities, programming standards, Object Oriented Design (OOD) and Unified Modeling Language(UML), as well as latest technologies and trends
4. Participates in the development of tactical project plans, requirements review, work breakdown and estimation efforts.
5. Assists and mentors less experienced team members in developing strong analysis, design and programming skills.

 Technical Skills
- Multiple years of hands on programming experience on both UNIX and Windows platforms
- 5 or more years of development in the following computer language(s) ( selection based job position -  Java.)
- 5 or more years of experience applying OO technologies to complex transactional applications. 
- 5 or more years of development using JDBC, SQL for Oracle
Pluses
- Knowledge of RMI communication protocol
- Proven knowledge of Oracle SQL
-    Knowledge of Pervasive Data Integrator tool

QA Engineer

Education:
BA Information Technology or equivalent experience; 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience; 2 years of scripting, automation, and/or programming experience

Generic Skills
1. Excellent collaboration and communication skills at all levels including peers and cross functional teams.
2. Strong organizational, analysis and troubleshooting skills required for detailed problem analysis and troubleshooting of mission critical transactional systems.
3. Solid knowledge of various QA and SDLC methodologies including but not limited to white/black box testing, Six Sigma, RUP, Agile as well as familiarity with latest Quality technologies and trends.
4. Proficient in creation and execution of QA assets including but not limited to test strategy, plans, requirements traceability matrices, entrance/exit/success criteria, work breakdown and test estimation efforts.
5. Assists and mentors less experienced team members in developing and adhering to Quality best practices

Technical Skills
- 2+ years of hands on scripting, automation and/or programming experience on both UNIX and Windows platforms (scripting languages such as Perl, Visual Basic/VBA, Rational Robot/Functional Tester, Mercury Load Runner a plus)
- 3 years of hands-on quality assurance experience with mission critical web based, n-tier applications
Pluses
- Knowledge of JEE applications and/or application servers especially JBoss Application Server
- Hands on experience testing RDBMS applications
-    Experience in a Financial or Transactional Tax environment/and or ERP systems
