An email list to let folks know about walks and visits to weird and wonderful places in Northern England. The excursions are run in association with Northern Earth magazine; the UK's longest-running journal dedicated to the study of 'Earth Mysteries'. Generally these are arranged at shorter notice than NE deadlines allow, hence the e-group status.
The group is open to all with an interest in neo-antiquarian themes, whether NE subscribers or not.

At present, because of the geographical location of the founder members, we are focussing on Northern England within easy reach of our West Yorkshire hub; but other members might well choose to set up walks in their own area, and the success of these will depend on the membership size of the NEWalks group.

We do hope that our meetings will mostly be walks rather than convoys of cars, but this may not always be feasible given the distribution of sites in some areas. We aim for walks between 5-15 miles, and occasionally have weekend trips, which open up a wider geographical area.

Northern Earth magazine's subject matter is broadly known as 'earth mysteries', appealing to all those with an inquiring interest in historical landscapes, folk lore and custom, the unexplained, earth-based consciousness and spirituality or a 'Gaian' vision of the Earth.
