Description

The New Jersey Mycological Association is non-profit organization whose aims are to provide a means for sharing ideas, experiences, knowledge and common interests regarding fungi, and to furnish mycological information and educational materials to those who wish to increase their knowledge about mushrooms.

This group is open to anyone who has more than a passing interest in mushrooms and fungi, whether or not you are a member of the NJMA. Please note that this Yahoo Group is NOT a substitute for the NJMA website, www.njmyco.org, and club information and events, back issues of newsletters, identification information, membership applications, and mushroom recipes can be found there, not here.

DISCLAIMER: Be aware that no one should rely on information or photos posted to this group for identification of any mushroom, for any purpose, by anyone. Mushroom identification is a tricky science, and positive identification by a seasoned expert (preferably with specimen in hand) is the only reliable way to "pin down" a mushroom's identitiy. NJMA is not responsible for any identifications (or attempts at identification) which may show up on this board.

Also, never post personal information (phone numbers, addresses, etc.)

And remember the mushroomer's creed: When in doubt, throw it out! (OK, one qualification...NJMA wants to know what it is before you throw it out...just don't EAT it!)

Membership in this group is open to all, however we strongly encourage you to join the New Jersey Mycological Association to experience a real mushroom learning experience. Membership is $15/year for individuals and $20/year for families. That's a small investment if you have more than a casual interest in learning mushrooms. See the NJMA website for details and an application form.

Re: Chanterelle and Trumpets Anyone?
Yes, that is the case. High temps alone wouldn't be the problem (hot and humid is normally good for both species and other chanterelles, too), but lack of

I take it then that you also have been to some of your usual good spots with poor results. I'm guessing widespread high temps and lack of rain would be to

Chanterelle and Trumpets Anyone?
Has anyone been finding decent numbers of smooth chanterelles or black trumpets? Our patch of woods has been bare this year. Maybe a lack of rain.
