It's difficult to tell from the photos, but it's not unusual for A. rubescens to
be appearing around this time. In some years, they are so plentiful that you
might start wondering if there's any other Amanita species in existence! But a
caution: If you're even thinking of eating it, DON'T! Even if it IS Amanita
rubescens (which many field guides say is edible), there are too many close
lookalikes growing in the northeast that are deadly poisonous to take that
chance. If more come out, try photographing as close to the base as you can and
try bruising the base and stem to see if there's any color reaction. Post those
photos and I'll take another look.
