We've been pretty busy putting in some new features.  If you are interested in
implementing any of these, give Beau a call to discuss implementation
instructions, then ask your Notes admin to copy down the newest temmplates and

HomePage

Searches can now sort non-NOTEbookS database query results based on user
selected sort field as well as NOTEbookS databases' results.


Catalog/Circulation

Selected documents can be hidden from Notes browsers, from web browsers, from
both, or from neither

Audit function to compare Catalog and Circulation checkouts (what's supposed to
be cheked out versus what shows in catalog)

Recoded checkout agent for both document and view perspectives

Checkout function lookup offers choice of checking out by name or by employee ID

Recoded overdue notices (both automated ones and those selected from Overdue
view)

Research

Lookup for research request assignment can be from Experts view of database
(rather than from tables)

Editor Names field allows only assigned researcher editing once a document has
been assigned.

All

Back and close buttons have been rewritten for web access.

In Home Page several bugs in private searches and in Loans & Requests were
returning users to public views rather than from the frameset they started in. 
These have been repaired in template TMPLT - NBHP17609.NTF on the RASCO web
site.

Several weeks ago one of our customers asked us to give them a demo to refresh
them on what NOTEbookS does.  After spending an hour with them they were
flabbergasted, stating that they had no idea of all the bells and whistles that
are buried within the system. They felt that there was so much the system did
they were not taking advantage of that they subsequently asked us to come in to
their office to retrain them and to set these features up.  For the price of a
couple of days of consulting they implemented knowledge management features that

in addition to emails) in NOTEbookS? I'm considering putting it n the
new release if it would be used.

Enhancement: Web request form required that lookup button always
showed.  Some customers do not have NAB on web so made the button
optional.  Also moved submit button to bottom of form.
Solution: New button on configuration document (BorrowerLookup tab)
allows hiding Lookup button on web form.

A new enhancement to the Research module of NOTEbookS will alow patrons
to enter research for collaboration.  The workflow will be for the
patron to enter the research, click a button to save it in draft form
or to submit it, then for a research manager to accept (or deny) the
research into the knowledgebase.

enhancement on their mail server before we put it in production.

Apologies...I was at an email kiosk and saw an incoming email from a
customer regarding a request to allow patrons to enter research
documents directly into the system.  I hit the delete key, expecting it
to beleft on the server where it would bounce over to my regular
email.  It didn't.

Whoever sent the email, would you kindly send it again?  I have some
ideas I want to share with you regardding authentication, etc.

Integration of podcasts into NoteBooks catalogue.

Thoughts:

We need an automatic feed into the catalogue - copying and pasting is not
an issue - that what we would have to do anyway and thats what we are
trying to avoid.
We need to be able to see the podcasts under subject headings (separate
from other materials) as well as by series as well as just by title.
Clicking the link plays it - how do they download it?

  My thoughts:

  1.  Display

  Use the existing layout of the catalog.  Under the format view there would be a
new
  format..."Podcasts".

  If you opened up a record you would see something like the following:

  If you click the link in the rich text "attachment" field it would play either
audio or video,
  depending on what it was.

  2. Loading

  The most difficult part of this is to automatically load the data.  My thought
was do decipher
  the MP3 data programmatically and load it into a NOTEbookS record.  So there
would be a button
  (possibly in the MARC import screen) which would say "Import Podcasts".  It
would allow you to
  browse through your My Music folder on your computer, select the podcasts you
wished to load, and
  it wold then programmatically load them into the NOTEbookS catalog.  The rest
of this (the
  display portion) can be done without programming.
