Chuck Johnson,
Thanks for the referral. I am confident that Larry's equipment will be more
appropriate for the field.
The situation is that we need a procedure to characterize or "average " the
effective permeability of a large area which we know that the area contains at
least a 10 to 100 fold or greater range of permeability.
I will be contacting Larry for his ideas.
Thanks again.

Larry Johnson, a NSCSS member 9or past member) also
has invented a permeameter -- known as the Johnson
Precision Permeameter... I've used both his and Dr.
Ammozegar's unit and personally like Larry's better.
It is more compact, easier to carry into sites and is
easier to set up and use.
He is a CPSS in Virginia and was the former soil
scientist for the County of Fairfax. Now, in addition
to developing permeameters he is a private soil mapper
and wetland delineator.
Larry's contact information is: 703 818-0232.
