May seem odd, but I recommend this movie very highly. Just saw it recently.
It is about the emotional and logistical issues of a single young woman who
makes a decision to go into farming. Though it occurs in France, the themes
are germane to Vermont and New England. A wonderful and beautiful film.
Could someone please forward to the Women in Agriculture Group? Bill

Fed up with city life, Sandrine (Mathilde Seigner) decides to leave Paris
and live out her dream of becoming a farmer. It's love at first sight when
she comes across a farmstead on the Vercors plateau, which she takes over
from the cantankerous farming veteran Adrien (Michel Serrault).
Sandrine is
as confident she can run the farm by herself as Adrien is skeptical; the
trials of the oncoming winter will prove them both wrong.

Hi Everyone,

It was really great to meet you all and learn that New York and Vermont
are facing similar challenges.  We are just beginning to organize a NY
Beginning Farmer Coalition so that we can share resources among the many
support agencies that exist in New York -- Extension, RCD, NOFA NY, NRCS,
farm training programs, CRAFT, etc.  We do have a very active state-wide
NY Beginning Farmer Project, which produced a guide similar to the VT
Guide to New Farmers. This group also created the "New York Beginning
Farmer Resource Center" website. A series of learning modules on this site
help guide aspiring or transitioning farmers through developing a business
plan.  A new "Lessons from Experience" video series just posted has been
popular too.

It seems there is quite a bit we could learn from each other.  Thanks for
this valuable opportunity to connect.

Violet
