Federal courts here do not allow any cell phones with
cameras. So for me any camera phone is automatically
off of the list. blackberrys serve my purpose, not
that i use all of the features, but it is a simple
"focused" cell phone. i use voice over ip for my
office phone and home phone. there are problems at
times, you have to get your ISP and your voip to work
together and this requires hands on time consuming
effort and energy. even when they are somewhat
synchronized theer are times calls won't come through
or the person cannot hear you or it will cut in and
out. even so, i prefer voip to one of the bell
company services which for me is insult to injury.
their bills are 4 times higher than the voip. they
change their plans on you. you get mysterious
billing, and on and on and on. and when you attempt
to call them, you feel as if you have just been stuck
up by some back alley creep with a cheep rusty gun.
you must get involved with your voip since few peeps
know about it and those who do charge as if they are
selling 25 virgins. i've tried to call cysco or cisco
or whatever they are and they are worst than dealing
with the bell tell companies. try calling cysco and
that is an experience in itself. it is obvious they
don't want to deal with the consumer.
my hope was to get better equipment than is offered by
the voip peeps but i did not know which cysco device i
needed to purchase and i called them to find out. i
was told i would get a call back. that was last
summer! the equipment provided by the voip peeps is
really cheep.
when all is said and done i'd still stay with voip,
nothing is perfect and at least it is cheeper, much
cheeper. i look at it this way, eventually i'll get
the quality equipment i want. patience.
regarding cell phones. go to cnet.com and click on
cell phones. i'd purchase any "smart phone that is
rated with an 8 or higher." you cannot go wrong with
that. i cannot give you any info on cell phone
companies. to me it is all a rip off. they over
charge. find the best plan you can with any service
provider and stop by the drug store on your way home
to pick up some vaseline. if you need to have
wireless on your laptop then maybe verizon may be best
for you.
who knows, they all drop calls and all of them charge
too much. and finally the govt allows all of this
corporate stealing to go on without a burp. let your
kid get stopped with a joint in his pocket and see
what happens.
have a great day.
