[children] Re: No Car Day is a program aimed at teaching children about transportation alternatives

Hi

Just to introduce some controversy into the discussion.

While I appreciate the issues of congestion, pollution and the
health benefits of walking and cycling etc, I don't understand why
children have become the focus of these issues.

1. It is adults who drive not children.
2. Children are at greater risk as pedestrians or cyclists
3. The school journey by car, while undesirable since it contributes
to congestion, pollution and lack of safety at the school site, may
have less effect on the overall levels of congestion and pollution and
as such may not be the real problem.

Wouldn't it be more productive to focus on adults and parents?

Ken
