International Walk to School Day to be celebrated by school kids from around
the world on Oct. 4, 2000


More than 2.5 million children, parents and community leaders from six
countries around the world will join forces on Oct. 4, 2000 to celebrate the
first ever International Walk to School Day.

School kids from the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Ireland,
Cyprus, the Isle of Man, and the British Colony of Gibraltar will be walking
to school on Oct. 4, 2000 - and then linking up via the Internet and
video-technology to share their experiences. It's all in the name of
promoting a safer and healthier world community by community. . . .
