If you follow the US National news you may have heard about four police
officers who were shot and killed ten days ago while meeting informally
in a coffee shop prior to going on shift. Those four officers belonged
to the roughly 100 man police force in the town where I live. The
memorial service took place yesterday. It drew an estimated 19,000
police officers and firemen from communities around the US and an
additional 1,000 Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Prior to the memorial service there was a motorcade procession that
consisted of an estimated 2000 police & fire vehicles. The turnout was
so massive that the motorcade took over four hours to complete. Despite
uncharacteristically cold weather, tens of thousands of citizens turned
out along the procession route to pay their respects.
Not surprisingly there were some very evocative images. Below are links
to some of those images of the memorial service and procession.
