Re: Stacking CPL on a UV filter

Hello Jay,

I did that too not too long ago, have an UV filter on plus the CP ontop of
that. I was using the Nikkor 18-105mm lens. In my photos, the corners where
almost black and couldn't figure out why. So I took off the UV filter and that
problem went away. If I remember right, it only happen on the short end of the
focus.. 18mm but after I took off the UV and only used the CP filter, I didn't
have that problem anymore.

get out tomorrow and take some foliage pictures. I'm using a Tamron 18-200
macro/zoom and have a UV filter on the front for protection only. What problems
would I encounter if I stack my Circular Polarizer on the UV filter or would I
be better to remove the UV filter?

I did the same thing for last year's colors, Jay. I didn't notice any problems other than the combination of UV, CP and a slow lens (f3.5?) didn't allow me to...

That makes 2 responses in favor of not stacking. I'm sure there will be others as well who advise the same. I didn't know there was such a thing as a clear...

Thanks, Hayo - I hadn't heard of clear filters before. I'll have to check them out. I just carried over the habit of using a UV from my film days. Gary ...
