Many of the P&S cameras are really designed for convenience. I picked up an L10 for my wife recently. Its has some nice features, but I wouldn't use it for anything serious.
I have an 8700 is that well out of production but still does a nice job for what I need. The only regret is the iso only goes to 400 and then it starts to get grainy.
I have been drooling over the D300 lately. If I had the money I would get it in a hearbeat.

Well, I am frustrated with the camera I got yesterday and am returning it. In a couple weeks time I'll get the Nikon D60 instead as I just don't see me being happy with any p+s camera right now, no matter what brand. I'm just used to a certain result when I take pictures and it doesn't live up to a dslr result no matter how hard I try.
So we're gonna return it and I'll be on photo taking hiatus for a couple weeks. *gulp*
I'll see any of you on a Nikon DSLR group instead.
