Nikon FE meter coupling problem   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #8182 of 8379 |
Could I ask for some guidance please? I have a Nikon FE on which everything
seems to be working, except that the 'meter coupling lever' does not influence
the meter OR properly track the aperture setting.

The 'meter coupling lever' is in its normal position, not folded away. It mates
neatly with the meter coupling ridge on my AI lens. When I turn to f/8 or f/16,
the 'lever' is pushed around with the aperture ring but does not influence the
meter at all (shutter speed set on AUTO, no change to speed indicated). When I
turn the aperture ring back to f/2, the 'lever' does not follow the lens ridge
back, ie. it does not spring back.

The meter otherwise seems to work fine (tested by going from light to dark
areas), shutter speeds are fine, the aperture ring on the lens works fine, the
aperture does get stopped down properly when taking a shot or using DOF preview.

Many thanks in advance for any pointers. I hope this is fixable!

Very clear. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Karim. I had no idea about the cable system; now I have some hope that the cable has slipped out, or similar....
