Senior Specialist, Interactive Communications
Children's National Medical Center

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a great opportunity to flex your creative and technical skills and
be part of a team that develops strategy and executes projects for
Children's National Medical Center (CNMC).
-- Works closely with the Director of Philanthropic Marketing &
Communication and CNMC's PR & Marketing web staff to shape and implement
tactics to support fundraising communications.
-- Manages small to medium sized projects autonomously surrounding online
communications of all types, from start to finish.
-- Serves as content manager for the 'Giving' section of the CNMC website,
including posting new material, maintaining an events calendar, and
updating content.
-- Helps plan and implement online outreach initiatives, which may include
e-cards, e-newsletters, and other online communications.
-- Proactively identifies opportunities for enhancements and new
interactive functions, which will include technology beyond CNMC's website
-- such as widget technology, social networking sites, blogs, sponsored
search terms, and partnerships with other organizations to export content.
-- Manages and prioritizes a number of simultaneous tasks and deliverables
to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
-- Coordinates with people in other functional areas, including
fundraisers, database managers, event coordinators, and donation
processors.
-- Troubleshoots and repairs broken links, problems with data
interactivity, and other problems.
-- Actively makes recommendations for web modifications based on learned
needs and helps to implement those changes.
-- Helps identify and oversee the work of technology vendors, optimizing
the performance of all online services and overseeing development of new
applications and enhancements to existing applications.
-- Handles requests for creative materials, such as logos, PDF files, HTML
coding, etc. Establishes protocols and executes reports for all online
services.
Education & Training Required:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in web design, communications, journalism,
marketing, or equivalent experience in a related field.
Experience Required:
At least two to three years of project management experience preferred
with working knowledge of online fundraising tools and basic programming
principles. Basic knowledge of ASP and .Net and Web Server technologies.
Ability to hand code HTML with a good understanding of website technical
architecture and experience with web technology and website tools.
Proficient in all MS Office PC applications, Adobe Creative Suite, and FTP
software. Adobe Flash experience and a working knowledge of search engine
optimization techniques a plus.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational and project management skills a must. Must be able
to work independently with little direction, and as a team player. Can
handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must have strong oral
communication skills, and the ability to be interface with people in all
levels of the organization. Basic understanding of general programming
techniques. Preferred understanding of online fundraising, search engine
optimization techniques, RSS feeds, social networking, and web tracking and
analysis. Candidate must be a self starter, who can work independently with
minimal supervision.
