The Trust for Public Land (TPL) is a national, nonprofit, land conservation
organization that conserves land for people to enjoy as parks, community
gardens, historic sites, rural lands, and other natural places, ensuring livable
communities for generations to come. Since 1972, TPL has worked with willing
landowners, community groups, and national, state, and local agencies to
complete more than 3,500 land conservation projects in 47 states, protecting
more than 2 million acres. Since 1994, TPL has helped states and communities
craft and pass over 330 ballot measures, generating almost $25 billion in new
conservation-related funding.

The Systems Support Specialist acquires and maintains computer hardware and
software in the regional and national offices. Responsibilities include
acquisition and development of the correct automated tools, installing
application packages, consulting with users on specific needs, training TPL
staff on the functions and correct use of the application software, and
providing timely user support. Application software includes spreadsheets,
databases, word processing, E-mail systems, handheld devices, personal
information, management, and calendaring. All of this is performed with local
area network and wide area network.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Support TPL software users in national and regional offices with specific
application related needs, questions or problems. Provide training to TPL staff
on application of available software. Identify, evaluate and recommend new or
upgraded software packages.
Coordinate acquisition, installation, and configuration of application software,
either on the network or on the individual user workstations. Administer set up
and configuration of Windows and Windows applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma and AS or AA (2 year college degree or equivalent experience
in related fields).
Minimum 4 or more years in a specific field or position; at least two years
experience with PC's including proven ability to install and troubleshoot
software and hardware. Novell network experience a plus.
Fluency in Microsoft Office Applications, Windows 9x, Windows NT.
Ability to troubleshoot networked printers.
Ability to troubleshoot and configure laptop computers for remote connectivity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to provide effective
training and customer service support.
Ability and willingness to learn software quickly.
Ability to work under pressure, with occasional overtime, in an
"interruption-driven" support environment.
