POSITION DESCRIPTION



TITLE: Web Manager/Director



REPORTS TO: SVP, Communications & Development



SUMMARY:

The AmeriCares Website serves as a key communication and development
tool for the organization. The Web Project Manager will be responsible
for the Website, managing the database development, technical
programming, website design and daily operations. They will
successfully leverage the internet as a key channel for resource
acquisition (contributed dollars, and Gifts In Kind) and as a medium
to support off-line resource acquisition efforts for AmeriCares. They
will be expected to provide a strategic perspective on how AmeriCares
can best and most cost-effectively utilize the Internet. This role
requires an out-of-the box thinker who can work collaboratively with
the Development and Communications & Marketing staff in the planning
and implementation of innovative, integrated multi-channel
communication campaigns with donors and other constituents that
includes the Internet, regular mail, phones, and PR initiatives. In
addition, they will assume a leadership role in managing the Web
Administrator and the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the
AmeriCares Websites as well as provide direction to other members of
the Web team on Web related projects.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide leadership and strategic direction, based on best
practices on ways to increase traffic to AmeriCares Websites that
reaches key audiences by:

o Creating user-friendly, relevant and responsive online
experiences to engage our key audiences

o Converting site visitors, eMail subscribers and online
contacts into donors

o Significantly expanding our email contact lists

o Encouraging multi-channel interactions with donors

o Testing, measuring and refining strategy and tactics continuously

- Partner with Development and Communications managers to
create and plan multi- channel communications campaigns, ensure
cohesion between tactical requirements, and technology infrastructure

- Assume a leadership role in managing the work assignments
and activities of Web team staff by defining priorities and scope of
work; create project time-lines and assign appropriate allocation of
staff and third-party resources to accomplish specific
Internet-related and Website initiatives

- Analyze the effectiveness of online promotions based on
Website metrics using Google Analytics and other tools, and provide
recommendations for modifications of content, design, and Internet
strategy and tactics

- Oversee the management of our Convio Website:

o Provide direction to the Web team staff on content creation,
updates and enhancements to our Websites that support strategic
initiatives

o Provide direction to the Web team staff on work within the
Convio (CRM/CMS) system to build, test, and deliver email newsletters;
segment and build targeted email lists via queries, import new
constituents including eMail list management and Interest group
management

o Participate as needed in day-to-day maintenance of the web
site, including updating and publishing content

- Manage relationships with third-party consultant and Web
designer resources to implement tasks associated with Search Engine
Optimization (SEO); placement of audio/visual content on our site; ad
word campaigns; email newsletters and fundraising appeals; use of You
Tube and other social networking and third-party sites; blogs; and
customizable content

- Other duties as assigned by Manager



DELIVERABLES:

- Cost-effectively expand our visibility and activity in the
internet space in ways that reach our key audiences and increase our
donor base and actual donations

- Maximize the effectiveness of our primary website, email
and other internet-based tools to engage, educate and motivate donors
to give

- Active participation in the development and implementation
of strategies and tactics rooted in best practices and metrics-based
analysis to accomplish the goals of the organization.



CORE AMERICARES RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Foster AmeriCares values of respect, collaboration &
teamwork, trust, passion and commitment, compassion, and excellence.

- Coach, support and develop department staff to increase
individual and team effectiveness.



QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Communications
preferred, or equivalent professional experience; a minimum of 5-7
years relevant experience required, experience with non-profit
organizations is desirable

- Proficient on PC platform with Microsoft office; experience
with content management systems, preferably Convio; proficient and
experienced with Photoshop and expert knowledge of HTML; experience
with Flash, and Video/Audio editing, and Javascript software a plus;

- Demonstrated experience producing or developing dynamic
Websites; and a strong understanding of online communication, industry
best practices, and accessibility standards;

- Proven management experience with the ability to
successfully motivate a team to accomplish the goals of the department
and organization;

- Excellent written and oral communications skills;

- A balance between strong technical skills and the ability
to communicate professionally and effectively with non-technical staff
and constituents is essential;

- Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines and adapt to change;

- Project management experience and the ability to work with
dispersed teams on complex projects is highly desired;

- Availability as necessary after-hours or weekends to assist
the organization's use of Internet resources to mobilize and educate
constituents and donors in response to sudden natural and man-made
emergencies and disasters



Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
