The Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers is a national philanthropic
leader and a network of 32 regional associations representing over 4,000
grantmakers. The mission of the Forum network is to connect and support regional
associations � in ways that expand their capacity to lead, add value to their
members and strengthen philanthropy in their regions � and to bring the
knowledge and experience of the regional foundations into the national

As part of a significant initiative to create and share knowledge, the Forum
developed a new, Web-based Knowledge Management (KM) system that encourages the
generation, collection, and sharing of knowledge among a full range of
constituents in the philanthropic community. The Online Communications
Specialist will build and manage conduits to help regional associations share
underused resources developed from on-the-ground practitioners, multiply the
number of tools at their disposal, and magnify impact in their regions and local
communities.

Major Work Function (Summary)
The primary focus of the position is to create and implement strategies for
developing, collecting, vetting, and maintaining content on the integrated
Knowledge Management (KM) System, including the Forum�s Web site. This
position develops and sustains conduits for knowledge sharing across the
regional association network and manages the Knowledgebase, the Forum�s
collective online repository of quality-vetted resources for grantmakers.
Working close with the Director of Knowledge Management, the position also
supports the testing, implementation, and training of regional associations that
utilize the KM system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Build and maintain content for the collective Knowledgebase and Forum�s
Web site
* Administer and grow mechanisms for enhancing the collective Knowledgebase
* Manage the content of the Forum�s Web site and coordinate the editorial
calendar with staff to routinely refresh the Web site with quality, timely
materials
* Recommend content types based on user needs, usage reporting and Forum�s
online strategy
* Enhance site navigation, categorize documents, and input metadata elements
(synopsis, key terms, rights management, taxonomy, etc.)
* Lead efforts to enhance the usability of the collective taxonomy and
promote its proper application on the KM System
* Monitor Web site usability and analyze site usage statistics to maximize
information delivery
* Support the Director of Knowledge Management and system partners with the
implementation and technical maintenance of the integrated KM System
* Assist with the development of grant proposals, board reports, Webinars,
conference presentations, and system support manuals
* Research and respond to member queries

Required Skills and Attributes

* Experience in developing and maintaining Web content
* Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading background (reports, funding
proposals, etc.)
* Appreciation of Web usability and end-user experience
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and consensus-building
skills
* Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in fast-paced environment
* Technologically savvy, with the ability to explain technical processes
simply to non-technical staff

Qualifications
� Undergraduate degree and work experience in knowledge management,
library and information management or related fields preferred
� Familiarity with Content Management Systems, Association Management
Systems, Taxonomies, Meta-tagging, HTML, Web 2.0 technologies (RSS, blogs,
social media, etc.), and Google Analytics/WebTrends
� Knowledge of grantmaking foundations and associations a plus
