Fast-Paced Entrepreneurial Non-Profit Opportunity

Technology Program Associate - AmeriCorps VISTA Chicago, IL

As a Technology Program Associate with Ladder Up, you will be
responsible for maintaining and setting up our 340 laptops during tax
season, and also have the opportunity to work in volunteer recruitment,
community outreach, tax assistance, financial literacy, and fundraising.
While each associate has a primary role and responsibility, Ladder Up's
unique programming model allows for growth and experience in more than
one component of the organization. This position is located in Chicago,
IL.

Introduction - Goal of Program

Ladder Up is a fast-paced entrepreneurial non-profit organization
dedicated to providing innovative and free financial services to
hard-working, low-income families. We enable the working poor to claim
tax credits and refunds as well as overcome barriers to mainstream
financial resources by linking skilled volunteer professionals to their
communities.

Ladder Up was started by Bob Burke, then a business analyst, in 1994.
Over the past 15 years, more than 100,000 families have benefited from
our services for an economic impact of over $183 million. Our unique
private/public partnership draws from the area's top companies,
outstanding governmental leaders, and dynamic organizations to bring
professional-level services to underserved communities at a price anyone
can afford.

Honing your skills

While we are looking for someone who is familiar with technology, that
will not be the only area you work in at Ladder Up. During a one- to
two-year commitment at Ladder Up, we can help you develop the skills to
shape your future. Working here, you'll learn about many aspects of the
non-profit sector and the growing trend of social entrepreneurship, from
operations to organization, from marketing to technology and program
strategy. Perhaps most important, you'll acquire leadership skills that
will stay with you throughout your career.

Making a Difference

When you work for Ladder Up, you have the opportunity for far-ranging
impact. That's because our families will benefit today and in the years
to come from the financial stability and sustainability our programs
seek to instill. The problems you will be called on to address are
life-critical and can impact a family for generations to come.

In Closing

We invite you to apply and learn more about our program. If you are
confident, intelligent, have strong leadership potential, know your way
around a computer, and are eager to learn and work with others, Ladder
Up may be the place for you to begin your career. We look forward to
hearing from you.
