major foundations and key philanthropy sector partners, this new service
will make it easier and less costly for international grantmakers to

implementing the service and setting the strategic direction to grow
efficiently while maximizing positive impact on global civil society.

skills to implement well.  You'll be engaging with leading foundations;
senior, mission-oriented leaders at nonprofits; our global partner
network of NGO capacity-building organizations; and TechSoup Global's
San Francisco and European based staff. Moreover, you will assist with

of changing the face of international philanthropy, you should not miss
the chance to investigate this truly one-of-a-kind opportunity. If you
are interested in challenging projects, business decision making,

innovative, global nonprofit organization? TechSoup Global's Senior
Manager, Marketing and Communications position is charged with
developing and executing successful marketing programs for two
high-growth, high-social impact areas: the NGO Repository and the
TechSoup Global Network. This key position will work closely with
TechSoup Global management to develop integrated marketing and
communications programs to extend our reach and impact among the
communities we serve.

The candidate will provide marketing vision and leadership for TechSoup
Global, including:

* Identity and message development
* Creation of effective awareness and engagement campaigns
* Community building
* Customer and partner relationship management
* Results measurement and analysis

About TechSoup Global

TechSoup Global is a nonprofit organization that has been successful in
creating a suite of high impact services that facilitate corporate
philanthropy and benefit community service organizations in a
financially sustainable model. For more than two decades, our mission
has been to work toward the day when every community service
organization on the planet has access to the technology resources and
information they need to achieve their own missions. Founded in 1987,
we currently have more than 170 staff members and an annual budget of
about $23 million. TechSoup Global helps other nonprofits better serve
their missions by acquiring and using technology, implementing web and
social networking, and receiving grant funding and product donations.

Working with capacity-building partners across the world, TechSoup
Global is actively expanding our program outside the US. We establish
partnerships with in-country NGOs to implement our highly effective
product donation program, while adapting to local business practices,
laws, and cultural imperatives. In the process, we're building a global
network of partners all focused on empowering NGOs through the effective
use of technology. We're in 22 countries to date and adding more each
month.

Through our TechSoup Stock website, nonprofits find a broad range of
software donated by leading tech companies such as Microsoft, Cisco,
Symantec, Intuit, and Adobe, along with content and community resources
tailored specifically for a nonprofit audience. To date we have enabled
over $1 billion in technology donations world wide.

scalable web systems, our history of working both with donors and with
recipient NGOs, and our experience building one of the fastest growing

Dear Colleagues,

Often the folks who post to this list are not familiar with the
general conventions of job descriptions, or with the recommended
format for posting items to Nonprofit_Tech_Jobs@yahoogroups.com.
Therefore I am requesting that all list members (who wish to post to
the list) review these guidelines:

* First and foremost, your post must be an announcement of a career
opportunity in nonprofit technology, or it will not be approved. This
is not a forum for make-money-fast schemes, for circulating your
resume, or for advertising jobs that do not have a clear benefit to
the nonprofit sector.

* Please put the following information in the subject field of your
post: the job title, the organization that is hiring, and the
location of the job. Here's an example: "Network Engineer,
TechFoundation (Cambridge, MA). Note that the city and state are
parenthesized.

* Please be very specific about the skills, qualifications,
credentials, and experience that you are looking for, and about which
of these are non-negotiable.

* Please stipulate whether you are hiring on a full-time, part-time,
or consulting basis. If the job is tied to a time-limited project, be
specific about that. If hiring is contingent on a pending grant or
contract, please say so.

* If the salary, benefits, perks, and reporting structure are already
determined, please consider including them in your post. Jobs that do
not compensate workers with money (e.g., stipends, hourly wages, or
salaries) are not eligible to be listed here; at minimum, you should
indicate that you are announcing a paid position.

* Please include information about your organization. Relevant
information might be some or all of the following: your mission,
annual budget, size of staff, organizational culture, and IT
infrastructure.

* Please include very specific instructions about next steps for
individuals who would like more information or who are ready to apply
for the position. Ideally, your post should give the name of the
contact person, and his or her title, email address, street address,
phone number, and fax number.

Thanks for your attention to these guidelines. I hope that you will
excuse me for belaboring the obvious, but I think that this will
promote clearer communications for everyone involved.

Many thanks and best regards from Deborah

About TechSoup Global:

Based upon the strength of our global network, our expertise in building
scalable web systems, our history of working both with donors and with
recipient NGOs, and our experience building one of the fastest growing
sustainable social enterprises, TechSoup Global was recently selected to
build a new service for international philanthropy. Backed by major
foundations and key philanthropy sector partners, this new service will
create a global database of nonprofits and NGOs, making it easier and
less costly for international grantmakers to provide cash grants to
social benefit organizations in countries outside the U.S.

TechSoup Global is dedicated to creating and supporting an environment
of openness, trust, and fun where people's differences are valued and
respected, and where people of diverse backgrounds participate fully in
our organization. We believe that the diverse cultures and perspectives
of our staff will help us better serve our clients. TechSoup Global is
an equal opportunity agency and will not allow discrimination based upon
ethnicity, race, color, citizenship, creed, religion, size, weight,
height, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, gender, gender identity,
pregnancy or childbirth, marital status, domestic partner status, sexual
orientation, physical or mental disability, physical or mental handicap,
medical condition, AIDS/HIV status, veteran status, or socioeconomic
background.

KIPP is redefining the notion of what is possible in public education
through a partnership among parents, students, and teachers that puts
learning first. A national network of free, open-enrollment,

students in underserved communities for success in college and in life,
KIPP provides outstanding educators, more time in school learning, and a
strong culture of achievement to help all of our students climb the

Subject: [progressiveexchange] Vendor Needed for an Intake Database
To: Discuss@...

We're about to launch a new campaign and are in need of an intake
database.  I wanted to see if anybody on this list does database
development or knows of a good vendor that might be willing to take on
this project.  Below is a breakdown of the functionality we are
looking for.Â

Intake Database

Â

This database would require multiple users and multiple user levels
and permissions, simultaneous login ability, report editing, data
sorting and download capabilities. A more precise breakdown of
necessary functionalities is below:

Â

-          Users: A tiered user system, with general
users,
supervisors, administrators, and super users.

o   General users – add new reports to database, attach notes to
old reports, no editing of old reports, no access to personally
identifiable information. Basic search functionality to find old
reports.

o   Supervisors – all general user functions, plus ability to edit
reports and view personally identifiable information.

o   Administrators – all supervisor and general functions, plus
ability to add and delete users

o   Superusers – all above functions, plus ability to alter form
fields if possible.

Â

-          Login ability: Multiple users,
supervisors, admin,
and superusers must be able to log in at the same time. Depending on
the cost break down, this could look different. We would like to see a
cost scale for having between 100 and 1000 users. Likewise, we would
like to know if there would be a limit or added cost to having
multiple users simultaneously logged in under the same username.

Â

-          Reports: A reporting system that uses
basic forms
for intake, but also allows for searching, sorting and exporting.

o   Intake form – this form will be pre-created, but it would be
useful if superusers had some level of edit ability. It will include
personal data (such as contact information) as well as general data
(such as state, problem description, etc.) in text fields and tick box
and radio buttons to collect other information.  The tick boxes and
radio buttons will be used to walk the volunteer through what
questions to ask homeowners that pertain to their specific problem.Â
Some form fields would be hidden and only visible if volunteers ticked
the specified box.

o   Search/sort – users will need to be able to search across
multiple fields, including name, state, problem description, date, and
any of the categories set up. Results should appear in a table format
that is sortable.

o   Export – certain user levels (likely admin and superusers)
will need to export search results as a .csv file, including all
fields (contact information, descriptions, notes, etc.)

Â

There is also potentially a need for a public version of this database
– one which would have basic view and search functions, but would
keep necessary identifying information private.

Subject: File - Nonprofit Tech Jobs posting guidelines
Nonprofit_Tech_Jobs@yahoogroups.com
Send Email Send Email

Dear Colleagues,

Often the folks who post to this list are not familiar with the general
conventions of job descriptions, or with the recommended format for posting
items to Nonprofit_Tech_Jobs@yahoogroups.com. Therefore I am requesting that
all list members (who wish to post to the list) review these guidelines:

* First and foremost, your post must be an announcement of a career opportunity
in nonprofit technology, or it will not be approved. This is not a forum for
make-money-fast schemes, for circulating your resume, or for advertising jobs
that do not have a clear benefit to the nonprofit sector.

* Please put the following information in the subject field of your post: the
job title, the organization that is hiring, and the location of the job. Here's
an example: "Network Engineer, TechFoundation (Cambridge, MA). Note that the
city and state are parenthesized.

* Please be very specific about the skills, qualifications, credentials, and
experience that you are looking for, and about which of these are
non-negotiable.

* Please stipulate whether you are hiring on a full-time, part-time, or
consulting basis. If the job is tied to a time-limited project, be specific
about that. If hiring is contingent on a pending grant or contract, please say
so.

* If the salary, benefits, perks, and reporting structure are already
determined, please consider including them in your post. Jobs that do not
compensate workers with money (e.g., stipends, hourly wages, or salaries) are
not eligible to be listed here; at minimum, you should indicate that you are
announcing a paid position.

* Please include information about your organization. Relevant information
might be some or all of the following: your mission, annual budget, size of
staff, organizational culture, and IT infrastructure.

* Please include very specific instructions about next steps for individuals
who would like more information or who are ready to apply for the position.
Ideally, your post should give the name of the contact person, and his or her
title, email address, street address, phone number, and fax number.

Thanks for your attention to these guidelines. I hope that you will excuse me
for belaboring the obvious, but I think that this will promote clearer
communications for everyone involved.

Many thanks and best regards from Deborah

Frequently Asked Questions

(Questions addressed to Deborah, the list moderator, by members of this email
distribution list)

Q: Are you paid to administer the Nonprofit Tech Jobs list?

A: No. I do it on a volunteer basis, as a service to the community.

Q: Well, then what do you do for a living?

A: I'm an independent consultant in the field of nonprofit technology.

Q: Can you offer me career counseling?

A: Alas, no. I'm not qualified to do that.

Q: Can you review my resume, and find me some job opportunities that would be a
good match?

A: Alas, I usually can't accept such requests via email or telephone, and I
can't offer to do any extensive research for individual job seekers. However, if
you ask me in person, I may be able to make some helpful suggestions off the top
of my head.

Q: Why don't you provide more nonprofit tech jobs that are based in the region
or country where I'm based?

A: I only list job opportunities that are brought to my attention. It's
important to understand that I don't actually create (or fund) the jobs listed
here.

Q: Why don't you provide more nonprofit tech jobs in my field of technical
expertise?

A: I only list job opportunities that are brought to my attention. It's
important to understand that I don't actually create (or fund) the jobs listed
here.

Q: I want to work for a specific nonprofit organization. Can you offer me a
special introduction to someone there?

A: Alas, no - unless I have many years of firsthand experience of your work, and
the organization's hiring manager would like me to play such a role. In such a
case, I will be glad to do it as a professional courtesy.

Q: Can you give more information about a job that you've posted or about the
organization that is hiring?

A: Alas, no. I publicly post everything I know about the job opportunities that
are listed. If it's not included in the original posting, then I don't have the
information.

Q: I'm highly qualified. Can't you do more to help me land a nonprofit tech job?

A: Alas, no.

Q: I'm really desperate. Can't you do more to help me land a nonprofit tech job?

A: Alas, no.

Q: I'm a very special person and feel really entitled. Can't you do more to help
me land a nonprofit tech job?

A: Alas, no.

Q: Why is there sometimes a lag between the time when a nonprofit organization
announces a tech job on its web site and the time when you post it to the list?

A: I post job announcements to this list in my not-very-copious spare time.
Please accept my apologies if I'm only able to do this a few times a month.

Q: What can I do to assist with the Nonprofit Tech Jobs list?

A: When you receive a relevant job announcement, please format it appropriately
and email it to <nonprofit_tech_jobs@yahoogroups.com> .

Thank you for asking!
