Biofuel at the Kitchen Table--S.F. Green Festival ‘04
Sunday, Nov. 7, 3pm - 3:45pm
San Francisco Concourse Building, 8th & Brannan St.,
San Francisco, CA 94123 (for detailed maps and
directions go to:
http://www.greenfestivals.com/article.php?id=130).

As part of this year’s San Francisco Green Festival*,
there will be a
“Kitchen Table” forum devoted to biodiesel in the Bay
Area and Northern California!

For those who are unfamiliar with the Green Festival,
I have pasted a brief description below*. This
description comes from the website which is at
http://www.greenfestivals.com/index.php -- select the
S.F. link for SF-specific details.

The “Kitchen Table” is a space at Green Festival where
brainstorming, networking and information exchange can
happen around particular topics. The atmosphere is
intended to be relaxed and open--like one of the many
kitchen tables of the world, where the issues of life
are discussed human to
human, passing the spark and building the fire.

While there is no set agenda for the biodiesel Kitchen
Table gathering, there will be a focus on the
expanding biodiesel network in the Bay Area and
Northern California. We
hope to bring together many of Northern California’s
biodiesel pioneers (including producers, suppliers,
vendors, members of
community cooperatives . . .) to reflect on how the
biodiesel
infrastructure is growing presently, and to brainstorm
on how it might develop over time. It will be an
opportunity to share experiences and foster solid
connections among the already-strong network of
biodiesel advocates in the San Francisco Bay
Area and Northern California in general. Who knows, it
may have the potential to spark a movement to unite
biodiesel entrepreneurs and activists in a cooperative
effort that can dynamically compete with the
subsidized, corporate petro-world.

The forum will, by no means, be exclusionary, but it
is not intended to address basic biodiesel questions
(like “what is biodiesel?” or “how is it made?”). Such
information will be available at Green Festival
through other means such as flyers and informational
posters. Depending on turn-out and the
flow of the meeting, however, there may be time for
basic questions at the end.

If you are interested in the future of biodiesel in
the Bay Area and
Northern California we would love to see you there! If
you have any questions please feel free to visit the
Green Festival website or contact me directly:
wlook@..., (415) 282-2871. This meeting will
be
facilitated by myself and Jolie Ginsburg.

I Hope to see you in November!

* The Green Festival is a two-day party with a serious
purpose: to
accelerate the emergence of a new
economic paradigm that is life-affirming and
life-restoring. Together
we are cultivating a culture of
sustainability and social equity that honors our
interdependence with
all life. Green Festival unites
green businesses, social and environmental groups,
visionary thinkers,
and thousands of community
members in a lively exchange of ideas, commerce and
movement-building
fun.
