Biodiesel 101 - A Clean, Homegrown, Alternative Fuel
Thursday, November 11, 2004 7-9 pm
Ecology Center Bookstore, Berkeley, CA
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Join us for a discussion and a slideshow about one of the most exciting
alternative fuels today, biodiesel. Like other plant-based
alternative fuels, biodiesel vastly improves emissions, is produced
in the US - reducing our reliance on foreign oil - and is a part of a
more renewable energy scenario. Best of all, biodiesel is available
NOW, and can be used in any existing diesel engine with no
modifications. There will be a presentation by a panel of users,
homebrewers, and distributors, followed by a discussion with you, the
audience. Bring your questions!
Topics include:
* What you need to get started using biodiesel
* Differences between bio and petrodiesels
* Where to buy it, or where to learn how to make it
* Sustainable and community-scale biodiesel production
* Cooperatives, upcoming events, biodiesel activism, and other
community projects
This event will be presented by SaraHope Smith and Jennifer Radtke of
Biofuel Oasis, and Maria 'Mark' Alovert of www.localb100.com, with other
presenters to be announced
Location:
Ecology Center, 2530 San Pablo Ave, near
Dwight Way, Berkeley.
Time: 7 pm - 9 pm.
Cost: No charge.
Info: 510-548-2220 x233.
