Permaculture, Peak Moment TV, and We the Media

Janaia Donaldson and Robyn Mallgren's weekly 'Peak Moment
Conversations' on living locally and sustainably have been airing
since early 2006.

We'll start by showing "Permaculture Perspective: Living In
Authenticity During Energy Descent," Bill Wilsons' inspiring
presentation from "A Renaissance of Local 2007." Bill will be
facilitating a Permaculture Design Course here in Grass Valley this
November 8-15. "Meet" him before he comes to town.

We will then discuss "Being the Media" -- you and us. As the
corporate-owned media muffles the commons with misinformation and
missing information, it becomes even more important that we all
become the media by creating our own avenues of communication, news,
and entertainment

We'll talk about how Peak Moment grew from the grass roots on an e-
bay budget. We'll share from our experience taping Conversations on
location for about 3 months in 2006, which is where we first saw
permaculture in action. Not surprisingly, the most popular topics in
our 130 Conversations are permaculture and small-scale food
production.

As the energy, climate and economic crises deepen, people are eager
to learn how to put permaculture and low-energy, sustainable living
into practice. With inexpensive video, audio, and computer equipment,
and free international distribution through the internet, the
peoples' media is here. This won't be a techie's talk, but hopefully
one that inspires you to include media in your permaculture
practices.

Peak Moment: Community Responses for a Changing Energy Future is a
weekly online television series showcasing perspectives and
initiatives for local self-reliant living. The half-hour programs
feature host Janaia Donaldson's conversations and on-site tours with
individuals and communities preparing for accelerating energy
decline, climate chaos, and economic uncertainty. 130 programs are on
the net at www.peakmoment.tv/conversations and are cablecast on about
two dozen community access TV stations nationwide.
