Gordon Fry of Craftwise Natural Building presents...
'Radical Reinvention or Collapse: Permaculture Approaches To the
Problem of Cities'
We know what permaculture is capable of doing on pieces of rural or
semi-rural land, but what are we to make of the reality of modern
cities? Focusing on the example of Portland, Oregon as a case study
in modern urban reinvention, this talk will be a group discussion
about the challenges of urban population concentration at the end of
the era of cheap energy, and the possible solutions being offered by
radical ecology/ permaculture perspectives.
Topics include:
- Culture change from the bottom up
- The budding movement towards producing sustainable local food
- Natural building and permaculture design in an urban regulatory context
- The emerging links between permaculture principles and anarchist
politics
