The colours perceived also vary by the energy or field level they are perceived at. The heart is at core golden, often joined with the third eye. The lower chakras do tend to have red tones and the 5th and 6th blue but that's about as close to rainbow as it gets. It's also worth noting that the chakra system is part of an energy network. The nadis have 10's of thousands of channels in the body and it extends to the ends of the limbs where secondary centers are located. The nervous system and acupuncture charts reflect this. And don't forget the thread or sutra that joins them together and joins us as one. It is ever straight. It is best to focus on healing the overall system rather than trying to open just the main nodes. We tend to become most conscious of these channels when they are either blocked by stress or injury or when they are purifying, causing some discomfort or strange sensations. Some systems illustrate further chakras above the crown. These can also be perceived as the divine versions of the initial 7. They can also be seen as folding back on the first 7. So 10 for example is divine heart, when divine is flowing down through the heart. Finally, it's notable that there is only one set of chakras. For all beings.
