This Yahoo group is for members of the Oceania Chondrichthyan Society (OCS), and provides a means for OCS members to remain in contact with each other and the Society. The OCS is a not-for-profit organisation established for "the advancement of the scientific study of chondrichthyan fishes (sharks, skates, rays, and chimaeras), the promotion of education, conservation, and sustainable utilisation of natural resources, and to provide a medium for the exchange of information and ideas among those studying chondrichthyan fishes."

Conditions of use and list etiquette

1) The list is for the open exchange of information and ideas. Members are welcome to post messages asking questions, soliciting advice or assistance, presenting positions or advocacy information related to the objectives of the Society, about programs or links to other information sites.
2) Messages posted on this list do not represent official positions or policies of the OCS.
3) Members will treat all other members with respect and courtesy on this list.
4) No inappropriate material is to be circulated on the OCS List. If in doubt, members should contact the list moderator prior to posting material.
5) Advertising unrelated commercial products or posting spam will not be tolerated.
6) Do not post verbatim news articles you might find on the Web -- this may constitute copyright infringement. Members should post a web link to the news article.
7) When responding to a posting to the list, do not respond *back* to the entire list unless you feel it is an answer everyone can benefit from.
8) Succinct postings are appreciated by all.
