All right... I can't open the TMX at all, I get an error saying no program
exists for this file type...

The .txt file has no use for OmegaT or for you.
Remove it from the /tm folder. Not because it will change anything (it's
ignored anyway by OmegaT), but for the sake of clarity. It's better to
understand what one is doing.

As Marc says.
But instead of searching what *might* be there, I open the TMX file with a
text editor (which allows me to check it's actually a TMX file, I have seen
Wordfast TMs renamed as .tmx, for instance), select a bit of text, then
search for this text in OmegaT.
