Do all of you have CVS access to OO.o?
I have some content (hacked up recently) and would like someone to help
with translations.
Also, I was talking a bit about the OpenOffice.org project (and
mentioned Bustamam and the GUI conversion bit, as well as MIMOS and
their help files/dictionary) on Cyberjaya.tv (www.cyberjaya.tv). It's on
Power Breakfast #43.
I think you need Windows Media Player (eek!), but it seemed to work on
Linux with mplayer. I'll be getting the mp4 of it soon, and will upload
it somewhere.

Saya setuju dengan pendapat Najmi.
Tujuan sebenar saya posting topik nie bukan bertujuan
untuk menghentam mana-mana pihak, tapi sebagai peringatan
bahawa *produk* lain sedang berusaha untuk menyiapkan versi
Bahasa Melayu.

Yup. I know. Sorry folk, have been travelling far too much and getting
much work done is such a hassle.
Target to get some content on ms.openoffice.org is by 1st January 2004.
Even if the content is a place-holder. Holiday season tends to also have
an effect on performance.
BTW, with ms.openoffice.org, we're also allowed to have mailing lists
there - so we can leave yahoo!groups and move there. Any thoughts on
this?

It's not about "love". Please don't be mistaken. But OpenOffice.org has
a Malay translation, and its nearly complete.

Yes. But that doesn't compete with what Microsoft has sent out.
Remember, you can't diss DBP in public! (it's politcally incorrect).
I suggest that once we have a working translation (we're still
incomplete, and building with 1.1RC4), we organise a press release of
sorts.
As for the OpenOffice.org project itself, we're going to be seeing a
1.1.1 release soon.

XP and Office to go native by mid-2004
By RASLAN SHARIF
KUALA LUMPUR: Bahasa Malaysia user interfaces for Microsoft's Windows
XP operating system and Office 2003 productivity suite are expected to
be available by the middle of next year.
A Microsoft Malaysia official said the compilation of a Bahasa
Malaysia glossary of 7,500 terms to be used in the Language Interface
Pack (LIP), as it is officially known, has been completed by Dewan
Bahasa dan Pustaka.
Further work on the software would be contracted to two local
independent software vendors (ISVs), one each for Windows and Office
respectively.
The company has not decided whether to make the Bahasa Malaysia LIP
available as a download from the Internet, or to distribute it on a
CD. Pricing for the pack will also be decided later, the official told
In.Tech.
Microsoft Malaysia and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka signed an agreement on
the glossary in September.
At the signing ceremony, Microsoft chief technology officer Peter
Moore said the company had identified more than 40 languages around
the world for localisation of Windows XP and Office 2003, including 14
in India.
The use of the Bahasa Malaysia LIP is to expected present new
opportunities for Malaysian companies to develop local-language
solutions and applications, according to Microsoft Malaysia.
Cheap office
Microsoft Malaysia also said it would be making available the
Microsoft Office Student and Teacher 2003 edition at a special price
of RM199 at participating booths in the upcoming PC Fair, which opens
tomorrow and runs through the weekend at the Putra World Trade Centre
in Kuala Lumpur.
Each retail pack allows students and teachers to install the same
licence of Microsoft Office Student and Teacher 2003 edition in a
total of three PCs or laptops, effectively allowing users to enjoy the
product at RM66 per PC, the company said in a statement.
The usual price for this special edition is RM599.

Dari membuang masa menunggu, saya rasa lebih baik kami teruskan dengan

dia suggest kalau nama program yg descriptive, boleh translate
mana yg involve branding, takyah translate
cam "GNOME Calculator" boleh jadi "Kalkulator GNOME"
OpenOffice surely tak payah translate pasal dia brand
tapi "Calc" tu aku tak sure lak....
hmmm ke aku kena tengok bahasa lain buat macam mana
tapi macam mana pun kena sync between
shared-mime-info, module openoffice di cvs gnome
dgn OpenOffice korang...

Hi all,
Since most of you here contribute to the OpenOffice.org project in some
way, I'm requesting that all of you join the Malay Language initiative,

What you need to do?
1. Signup for an account at www.openoffice.org
2. Go to ms.openoffice.org and click "Join"
