Description
Join here with other folks from Oregon to learn more about the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) -- learn all the ramifications, and learn how to FIGHT it. Share information and contacts, and let's all get organized! You CAN make a difference! This is about personal freedoms --those our forefathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters have fought and died for. Down the road, you will have no right to complain if you have simply walked meekly down that path and simply accepted without question what is being proposed by our government.
This group is established for the express purpose of keeping NAIS out of OREGON, and helping stop it nationally -- to exchange information -- what we are doing, what we know, what we need or want to know, ANY and ALL contacts we can locate that are pertinent to NAIS in OREGON. There will be absolutely NO arguing, politics, put downs,
As currently established, NAIS will require every premise where a farm animal --even ONE animal -- is kept. Parts of the US already have mandatory PREMISE IDENTIFICATION in force, and all states are in the process of implementing voluntary PREMISE IDENTIFICATION. Next will come voluntary, and then mandatory, ID of every animal in the form of tags or micro-chips with "readable" capabilities so that the information can be read from a distance. The ramifications of this System are very widespread, and will prove to be devastating to small scale owners of livestock -- in terms of inconvenience and cost, but also in the fact that our constitutional rights are being violated with implementation of these regulations. Supposedly, in light of the mad cow scare and hoof and mouth outbreaks in other countries, the premise of this System is to allow 48 hour track-back on a diseased animal to located exposed animals and the source of the disease. The reality of NAIS is that there have been no LAWS passed and yet the government intends to acquire access to our private busines.
