Description

This group is dedicated to the Orion StarShoot Deep-Space Color Imager.

The StarShoot CCD is a Sony color EXview HAD that does full color imaging. More details about the StarShoot Imagers are available here (including a side-by-side comparison with the Meade DSI). It comes with MaxIm DL Essentials Edition software that provides real-time focusing assistance, easy image capture and stacking, and powerful image processing tools.

The camera works with any telescope and also can be used as an autoguider for long-exposure astrophotography. Power for the camera is supplied by your computer via the included USB 2.0 cable; TEC cooling requires an external 12-volt power source.

Re: SSI DSI manual bias setting question
How did you settle on the 1000 value? The problem I'm having with the StarShoot, in addition to an apparent lack of sensitivity, is that there's not much range

Re: SSI DSI manual bias setting question
Hi Joe, I capture with Nebulosity, and manually set the bias so that the left side of the histogram doesn't drop below 1000.---Steve

SSI DSI manual bias setting question
The capture software of my Orion StarShoot I gives the option of setting bias, but the manual doesn't discuss this. How do I determine the proper bias setting?
