Folks,
Thanks to all 21 who joined us this morning.
In previous meetings, we talked about digital cameras, transferring photos
to your computer and enhancing them with programs like Adobe Photoshop
Elements.
Today, I went on a tangent of fun programs, web-page services, and deals
that help you share and/or utilize your digital photo collection.
At the last meeting I introduced www.flickr.com . Today, before the meeting
began, I displayed more photos from our first (and only) international
PCUGMI member.
Here are the pics I started to display:

You can find more here:

Kevin is a journalist who worked in Kalamazoo a few years ago, before he
went on to much bigger and better opportunities. He uses the power of the
internet very well.
Last week, I showed how easy it was to upload a picture to my FREE
www.flickr.com account. You can see that pic and a few others at:

(The fawn was in a bush about 6 feet from my front porch.)
This week's deal:
http://officemax.shoplocal.com/officemax/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&st\
oreid=2420577&rapid=412067&pagenumber=6&listingid=-2093169781
Officemax.com on page 6 of their circular is offering a 24" x 36" matte
print for $9.99. This price expires on 6/16.
You can use this deal to print any good digital image to a very large size.
I took advantage of this deal to print a mosaic I created a few years ago.
For the mosaic, I used several hundred photos my neice, nephew and I took to
create a composite photo that featured the subjects with all the other
pictures I took during my visit with them.
The software I used is free at:
http://www.andreaplanet.com/andreamosaic/download/
I suggest you download the image collection version, which will help in
learning the program.
We talked about Bert Monroy. He is a digital artist who makes
photo-realistic work. No cameras here, but it looks like there were:

The detail is incredible!
Here is a fun time-waster:

Put your message on many exististing pictures/markees. YOU can be a star!
Photosynth is an incredible idea that may or may not work out. IF your
hardware (computer) supports it, check out this demonstration:

Next week, Ralph has canceled the 6/19 meeting of the Computer Club at the
Portage Senior Center and referred everyone to our meeting.
Our meeting at the Portage Library will continue on the normal Thursday 10am
schedule with a special celebration on the 21st (this was leaked to me this
morning.) Expect more information from Jeannene.
Hope everyone will join us. (Please excuse the duplicate messages.)
Cheers,
Rob
