Please mention the model type and number,
as some of us seem to be the person friends bring and leave there older
computers with thinking “Well they will have something to put it to good
use for or know how to safely get rid of it.” I could mail out a CD drive
as I have a couple of compact laptops in my basement collecting dust and Uncle
Rob could show every one how to change it at a meet up. That is if his skills
are still sharp enough for the challenge (see how I just poked my favorite
uncle in the ribs there?). I would hate to think the man who introduced me to
my first computer that famous TRS-80 could not swap out a laptop CD drive. Oh
my, just laughing too hard!
By the way group, my name is Chuck Boyer.
Rob Gray as you know him is my Uncle Rob. And to embarrass him, at the age of 5
or 6, I allowed him to share my room with me in
It is nice to be a part of the group and I
hope I can contribute.
Thanks for the invite Uncle Rob,
Chuck Boyer

Jane, what model is the laptop? Some of them have modular drives that
can be replaced. You can get a replacement on eBay. That depends on
the model.
Otherwise, if you don't travel with it much, you can always get an
external drive CD or DVD drive and plug it in via USB 2.0 or Firewire.
The nice thing about the external option is that you can use it with
other computers or with your next laptop.

Kevin
