It should work... but we haven't used PowerGrade for a while now...
maybe try posting to PSUG to see if someone else? Still not exactly sure
what your issue is, since you didn't confirm my question, which was is
the quick lookup displaying the correct grade but the wrong percentage?

The teacher has tried to change and save and we double checked her grade
scale. I had her try (since there are only 2 assignments) to not weight
the assignment and it works fine. Her problem, "I've been doing it like
this for years" and she says parents know that the quizzes/tests weigh
more. I suggested weighted categories instead bus she is not really
willing to try something new now.

Our quarter end date is 1/14 and I have users entered assignment with
that date, however, they are not showing up. If the user changes the
'filter by' to 'this week' then they appear, but if they select Q2
they aren't showing.
However, if I change the date to 1/13, the assignments appear on the
scoresheet.
It's almost like the system is assuming no entries can be made on the
last day of the quarter.
Should we be manually adding another day so that the system works
properly?
What is the date in the final grade setup for the quarter? I have found that
the final grade setup date is what the system looks at. If that date is
different from the last day of the term, it can cause this type of issue.
Just a thought.... something to check.

Hello,
I am a doctoral student in educational psychology at a university in
Philadelphia, PA. I¢m currently conducting research on how teachers use
repetition in their classrooms as a teaching strategy. An initial small-scale
pilot study on this topic has revealed some very interesting results, and now I
am trying to reach a wider, national audience of teachers.
Currently I am interested in the responses of teachers who work in the United
States and teach children in day care through the 12th grade. In order to
participate in this research, all you need to do is follow the link below to a
survey on teaching strategies. Of course, all of your responses are anonymous.
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=9_2bMpgOaHtJ66mgHQvjGyaw_3d_3d
One of the overall goals of this research is to better understand established
teaching practices used in the classroom to facilitate learning. Consequently,
this information can then be used to help researchers develop laboratory
methodologies that more closely resemble actual teaching practices.
Thank you for your interest in advancing educational research! If you have any
questions or would like to discuss research on this topic, please email me at
mkiepert@....
Sincerely,
Marissa Kiepert Truong

I just wanted to announce a group that might be helpful (eventually) to those
switching from PowerGrade to PT Gradebook.
The group is PT Gradebook Users Group - PTGUG.

If we're starting from scratch, I would encourage consolidating the
discussions on the new PowerTeacher forum in PowerSource. They have
really done some good work recently on the forums, enough that I think
it can replace Yahoo. I would not have recommended that ever before
until recently. In practice PGUG has not proven to be as effective as it
could be because most gradebook questions still show up in the general
group, requiring one to subscribe to both anyway. Just my opinion and my
2 cents, for what it's worth.

I agree with Roger. PowerSource looks like it's to the point of being

The only thing that ever kept me BEFORE from recommending the
PowerSource forums was the ability to participate just from email, as we
do on Yahoo. They recently added a great "Watch" feature to all the
forums. If you put a "Watch" on the MAIN forum page, you will get all
the forum posts as emails and can reply via email. Their "bracketing" of
the forum name also allows easy email rule creation to shunt those
emails off to a separate folder. You can also, of course just "Watch" a
particular topic area or category. Me, I'm not one for categories, I
want to see everything :-)
If you do go online you can "accept" a good answer if you were the
original poster, you can "vote" on posts you found useful, and there are
many other cool features.
I think the only issue right now on PowerSource is there are at least 3
forums right now for PowerSchool users... the PowerSchool forum, the
PowerTeacher forum and the Community forum. Already we've seen confusion
about which one to post to and I don't blame the users for that
confusion. I subscribe/'Watch" all 3 and I can tell you that Pearson's
policy of allowing and even encouraging Pearson staff contributions is
already very compelling... they jump right in with very helpful posts,
which they are not allowed to do on Yahoo.
The Community forum is for issues that are not PowerSchool specific,
which would include users from other Pearson product lines, like
SMS/SASI/etc.
The PowerTeacher forum is what is sounds like, and I have to assume it
would include users from other product lines that use PowerTeacher.
The PowerSchool forum is pretty much like PSUG.
Hope this helps!
I was not asked by Pearson for this plug... I just personally think they
have finally gotten the forums right. :-)

I had forgotten about them, actually. But they might actually be a better way
to go.

Subject: RE: [PGUG] New Group - PTGUG

I received the following message from a parent. I'm guessing it has to do with
our SSL Certificate or their own firewall. Any suggestions?
Powerschool has worked very well for us (parents) until the last month or so.
Now when we try to log on at home the entry page seems to freeze and after
several minutes loads with placeholders for the jpeg images. The page still
works on other computers from other locations making me think something is out
of sorts with our browser. We are using Firefox 3.0.10 on a Mac running System
10.5.7 Suggestions welcomed.
Thanks
this sounds like a firewall issue at your district.
It also sounds like you are using a image server and it is being blocked
from outside your firewall.
if you are able to get to PS then the cert is working, but if you have an
image server and did not certificate it, then you will get an error each
time saying do you want to show non secure info?
you could also rule out "thier" firewall by trying it at another location
(maybe you home, or library)
I just looked up San Luis Coastal Unified School District PowerSchool and it
looks fine, I hope everything is better now.
