I have a teacher who uses the code NHI to count as zero and has the preferences set up to reflect this. Using NHI will change the letter grade appropriately...
If you are sure that NHI is set up to go to zero and not to unrecorded, my best guess is that the teacher is not set up to calculate grades based on total...
