This e-group has been established for those involved or interested in the Zoo, Conservation Park, Biopark, Aquarium, Sanctuary and Conservation industry to communicate on issues of mutual conservation interest that may be occurring in Papua New Guinea. The e-group is on trial to see if there is enough interest from the zoological parks industry worldwide to keep it running.

Papua New Guinea (in the South West Pacific - north of Australia) has benefited in the past from many programs instigated by zoos around the world, though it only has one organization that ranks as functional zoo which is well connected in both regional and global zoo networks. PNG does have a strong and growing conservation NGO movement working mainly on in situ habitat conservation and community development. In an attempt to facilitate and simulate better communications and more interest and involvement from the global zoo community in conservation issues in Papua New Guinea and thus help to close the gap between in-situ and ex-situ activities this e-group has been launched. Its success depends on its members use of the egroup.

The e-group membership is moderated and not open to the general public without permission being granted by the moderator. Messages posted are first screened by the moderator to ensure members do not recieve accidental, malicious or inappropriate postings.
