Description

Welcome! This moderated Power Quality list is a professional forum. If your question is about lightning or keraunic medicine, go to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/LightningProtection/.

WE DISCUSS: protecting electrical systems & electronics from transient voltage surges, harmonics, power sags & outages, & grounding defects. This is an outgrowth of the Lightning Protection Technical Forum at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/lightningprotection/ where (now) only lightning protection is discussed.

SOME AREAS COVERED ARE:
Grounding & testing/maintenance; Facilities protection; Broadcast towers; Surge Protective Devices/Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors (SPD/TVSS); Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS); Harmonics mitigation; Generators; Genset maintenance; Fraudulent claims & specifications.

CO-MODERATORS include recognized experts who generously give their time in fostering accurate information.

THIS LIST IS NOT a substitute for correctly solving site problems. That can require hiring (i.e., paying) a qualified, experienced PQ Electrical Engineer (E.E.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.). We like hearing about difficult situations & scientifically proven effective solutions.

POSTING MESSAGES: In signing each message, we request that a poster clearly identify his or her true name & work affiliation (credentials) as well as provide citations for technical advice given. Well thought out & detailed questions are welcome. We moderate all messages to restrict "chatter" & encourage valid information, so don't expect your message to be posted quickly. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to consider a proposed message and solicit answers. This board is NOT a chat list, so don't post any "I agree" or "personal" messages. If you want to e-mail an individual, don't post it here.

*** Please examine "Files" & "Links" for useful information, & "search" the message archives before posting a question. Your question might be answered there.
