Thank you, Mike, for your reply. My post was rather provocative, but I
wanted to wake up a reaction here. Your opinion about the future of this
forum is reassuring and I really hope you are right. And thank you for
keeping up this list.
In my opinion you are right also in what you say about scientific method and
scientific rigor. I criticized "psychical research" because of my
experiences on some sites about people calling themselves researchers. I
began reading in good faith but the sites were a disappointment. Their FAQ
and definitions of the terms revealed only spiritualistic faith and
ignorance of scientific results and lack of cautiousness. Unfortunately I
did not make notes and cannot give links any more.

Subject: Re: [PSIRG] Parapsychology forums?
I take exception to the assertion that this forum is dying. This forum has
been here for years and will continue to be here for years. It may not be
as active as other sites, but less than beehive level activity does not
equate death.
There are at least four other forums that have differing levels of activity.
Having run some of these forums since 2001, I can tell you that they wane
and go into near hysterical frenzies in rhythmic patterns over the months
and years.
Also, psychical research does not equate to New Age. I would balk at anyone
telling me that it is associated with it automatically. Research, I would
argue, depends on the adherence to the scientific method and the level of
intellectual honesty. That goes on. Any topic, psychic or not, that has
applied scientific rigor, is worthy of peer review.
Let's see if we get some comments (constructive, please) about this.
Sincerely,
Mike Wilson
